Today we have a new contributor!!!!! Please welcome my friend. La Peregrina, who blogs at Santiago Dreaming, sent along a really fun blonde groaner with a surprising twist!!!!! I think y'all will laugh and groooaaannn simultaneously -- just like I did!!!!
A blonde is seated next to a lawyer on a long flight. She craves her sleep, but he keeps waking her up. "Let's play a trivia game," he suggests, "If I answer wrong, I'll pay you $50. If you answer wrong, you owe me $5."
The blonde agrees, and the lawyer goes first. "What's the distance between the earth and the moon?"
The blonde hands the lawyer $5 and then asks,"What goes up a mountain on three legs and come down on four?"
The lawyer is dumbstruck. He scans the Internet on his laptop, flips through his pocket encyclopedia and texts every scientist he can find. No dice. Hours later he wakes up the blonde, hands her $50 and asks, "So, what's the answer?"
Without a words she hands him $5 and goes back to sleep.
LOL and a huge GROOOOOOOOOAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!!

The Friday Groaner
Alice of My Wintersong sent along this "almost but not quite" groaner. It left me giggling loudly and reminded me how things -- like our pasts -- have a way of catching up with us. Enjoy!!!!!!!!
John was a salesman's delight when it came to any kind of unusual gimmicks. His wife Marsha had long ago given up trying to get him to change. One day John came home with another one of his unusual purchases. It was a robot that John claimed was actually a lie detector.
It was about 5:30 that afternoon when Tommy, their 11 year old son, returned home from school. Tommy was over 2 hours late. "Where have you been? Why are you over 2 hours late getting home?" asked John.
"Several of us went to the library to work on an extra credit project," said Tommy. The robot walked around the table and slapped Tommy, knocking him completely out of his chair.
"Son," said John, "this robot is a lie detector, now tell us where you really were after school."
"We went to Bobby's house and watched a movie." said Tommy.
"What did you watch?" asked Marsha.
"The Ten Commandments." answered Tommy.
The robot went around to Tommy and once again slapped him, knocking him off his chair. With his lip quivering, Tommy got up, sat down and said, "I am sorry I lied. We really watched a tape called Sex Queen."
"I am ashamed of you son," said John. "When I was your age, I never lied to my parents."
And the robot walked around to John and delivered a whack that nearly knocked him out of his chair.
Marsha doubled over in laughter, almost in tears and said, "Boy, did you ever ask for that one! You can't be too mad with Tommy. After all, he is your son!"
The robot walked around to Marsha and knocked her out of her chair.

The Friday Groaner
A lot of the possible groaners that I've been receiving are older than all of us put together or have been published already. Today's offering from Darlene of Darlene's Hodgepodge is definitely a new one for me although it might take a minute to sink in as Darlene herself confesses: "It took me a while to get this one. I had to say the last line out loud before I got it. I wouldn't blame you if this one ended up in your trash file." When it sank in, I sat here and groaned loud enough that my neighbors two blocks away probably thought about calling the paramedics except they're used to me. Enjoy!!!!!!
A clown moved into an apartment building for circus performers. He was quite happy with the apartment. But he had one complaint: There was no ironing board. The clown called the building superintendent to ask for an ironing board. The superintendent refused to provide one.
"But, the acrobats and the lion tamers all have ironing boards," said the clown.
"You'll have to use the window ledge," said the superintendent. "It's in your lease. . .
"Every clown has a sill for ironing."

Nancy Leitz sent a long a pretty good groooaaannn! I think y'all will enjoy it!!!!!!!
How about the fellow who collapsed on the street and was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital?
He was in very bad shape but the good Sisters and the doctors cured him. Now it was time to ask him to pay the bill.
"But, I have no money," he protested. They asked, "Don't you have any relatives that might be able to help you?" No, he said," I only have one sister and she is a spinster nun."
The Mother Superior glared at him and said,"Nuns are not spinsters, young man. They are married to God."
"Oh, good!" the guy exclaimed, "In that case, send the bill to my Brother In Law."

Kent McKamy of KentsUSDrive sent along a terrific --albeit a bit risque -- (We're all grownups, right?) almost but not quite groooaaannn that should cause howls across the blogosphere!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A woman comes home and tells her husband, "Remember those headaches I've been having all these years? Well, they're gone."
"No more headaches?" the husband asks, "What happened?"
His wife replies, 'Margie referred me to a hypnotist & he told me to stand in front of a mirror, stare at myself and repeat:
" I do not have a headache."
" I do not have a headache."
" I do not have a headache."
And well, it worked -- the headaches are all gone!"
"Well, that's wonderful!" exclaims the husband.
His wife then says, "You know, you haven't been exactly a ball of fire in the bedroom these last few years, why don't you go see the hypnotist and see if he can do anything for that?"
Reluctantly, the husband agrees to try it.
Following his appointment, the husband comes home, rips off his clothes, picks up his wife and carries her into the bedroom. He puts her on the bed and says, "Don't move, I'll be right back."
He goes into the bathroom and comes back a few minutes later and jumps into bed and makes passionate love to his wife like never before.
His wife says, "WOW!!!!!!!!! That was wonderful!"
The husband says, "Don't move! I'll be right back."
He goes back into the bathroom, comes back and round two was even better than the first time.
The wife sits up and her head is spinning "OH MY GOD' she proclaims."
Her husband again says, "Don't move, I'll be right back.."
With that, he goes back in the bathroom.
This time, his wife quietly follows him and there, in the bathroom, she sees him standing at the mirror and saying.
"She's not my wife."
"She's not my wife."
"She's not my wife."
"She's not my wife."
His funeral service will be held on Saturday.

Thursday was a day from hell and all I want to do is run away and hide but I can't deny y'all your Friday groooaaannnn!!!!!!!
My dear friend, Fran, of Sacred Ordinary sent along this excellent groooaaannn that a friend shared with her. I just love how y'all are so kind as to pass these on to me. God knows I love collecting groaners and never cease to be delighted and amazed when they appear in my email. I am sure y'all are gonna loooooooooooooove this one!
We were celebrating the one hundredth anniversary of our church and several former pastors and the bishop were in attendance. In the middle of the liturgy, our minister had the children gather at the altar for a talk about the importance of the day. He began by asking them, "Does anyone know what the bishop does?" There was silence. Finally, one little boy answered gravely:

I'm not feeling well at all and of course I can't get into the doctor but I'm simply telling you this to explain my absence from the Blogosphere. However, I did remember The Friday Groaner. Jeff was over today after I called to cancel dinner with him and his dad tonight and he told me this almost-not quite a groaner. I think it's excellent and hope y'all do, too. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
In these hard economic times, a well-turned out lady applied for a job in a Florida lemon grove. She seemed wayyyyyyyyy too qualified for the job so the man in charge was a bit dubious.
“Look, Miss,” said the foreman, “have you any actual experience picking lemons?”

The Friday Groaner
One of the great contributors to this feature, Nancy Leitz, sent along this lengthy groooaaaannnn that left me rolling my eyes. I think y'all will enjoy it, too!!!
Two Swedes from Minnesota, Sven & Ole, walk into a pet shop near
Brainerd. They head to the bird section and Sven says to
Ole, "Dat's dem."
The owner comes over and asks if he can help them.
"Yah sure, ve'll take four of dem dere
little budgies in dat cage up dere," says Sven.
The owner puts the budgies in a paper bag.. Ole and
Sven pay for the birds, leave the shop, get into Sven's
pick-up and drive to the top of some big cliffs
near Brainerd Lake
At the cliffs, Sven looks down at the 1000 foot drop
and says, "Dis looks like a grand place."
He takes two birds out of the bag, puts them on his
shoulders and jumps off the cliff. Ole watches as Sven
falls all the way to the bottom, killing himself dead.
Looking down at the remains of his best pal, Ole
shakes his head and says: "By yumpin' yiminy, dis
budgie yumping is too dangerous for me."
VAIT!!! Dere's MORE!
Moments later Knute arrives up at the cliffs.
He's been to the pet shop, too, and walks up to
the edge of the cliff carrying another paper bag in one hand
and a shotgun in the other.
"Hey, Ole. Vatch dis." Knute says. He takes
a parrot from the bag and throws himself over the edge of
the cliff.
Ole watches as half way down, Knute takes the gun and
shoots the parrot.
Knute continues to plummet down and down until he
hits the bottom and breaks every bone in his body.
Ole shakes his head and says, "And I'm never
trying dat parrotshooting either."
BUT VAIT!!! Dere's MORE , you betcha!!
Ole is just getting over the shock of losing two
friends when Lars appears.
He's also been to the pet shop and is carrying a
paper bag, out of which he pulls a chicken.
Lars grasps the chicken by the legs, holds it over
his head, hurls himself off the cliff and disappears down
and down until he hits a rock and breaks his spine.
Once more Ole shakes his head. "First der was
Sven with his budgie yumping, den Knute parrotshooting ..
and now Lars, hengliding ......"
Dats all. Dere ain't no more!
Watcha lookin' down here for? I told you dere's no more.!

The Friday Groaner
The Friday Groaner is late today. I scheduled two posts to post at midnight on consecurtive days and accidently reversed the order. Sigh. Sorry.
Kent McKamy of KentsUSDrive sent this a while back and I thought it funny albeit probably "more truth than poetry" as my Daddy used to say and not a groaner in the strictest sense, it gave me a giggle. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
A biker is riding by the zoo when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage.
Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage, and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A NYT reporter has seen the whole scene and, addressing the biker, says, "Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life."
"Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right."
"Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist from the New York Times, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this on the first page. What motorcycle do you ride and what political affiliation do you have?"
"A Harley Davidson and I am a Republican."
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads the first page:

"Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist from the New York Times, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this on the first page. What motorcycle do you ride and what political affiliation do you have?"
"A Harley Davidson and I am a Republican."
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads the first page:
REPUBLICAN BIKER GANG MEMBER ASSAULTS
AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH!
AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH!

Mea Culpa! and an Update
Well hell, you know it's bad when I forget to post The Friday Groaner! I've been on serious overload. Just trying to keep myself together and getting things done for Jeff has been difficult at best as I really don't feel up to it all. I do apologize to the faithful here.
Friday morning Shaughn and I were at the airport to meet Jeff's flight. I think it's amazing that when I pulled into short term parking that Shaughn knew exactly where he was and settled down to wait for me to get Papa. LOL "Ecstatic" is a gross understatement for his reaction when I returned with Jeff. A huge Lab and two tall adults in a Pontiac Sunfire is interesting especially when the Lab wants to be in the front seat with the adults. I had a list for Jeff of what he needed to do and assured him that the cleaning ladies would be at both his and his parents' houses and that I'd been to the grocery for both and told him I had stuff to do, too.
I dropped both of them at Jeff's house and headed home because I'd promised Diane that we could "do lunch" and go see the "Kimono" exhibit again before it closed. We stopped by my friend Lynda's gallery to see what she was up to and verify a rumor that Mike -- Lynda's S.O. and our friend -- had been hurt. Sadly, it was true -- Mike had fallen off a ladder while helping redecorate her gallery and suffered a severe concussion. Not good. I, of course, told Lynda to let me know what I can do to help since he has no family here. I caught up with Jeff later and we went out to dinner so he could let me know what the program is. I told him to call me in the morning -- but not too early -- and went home and crashed.
He called around ten and I went over to help make calls to his parents' many friends and told him I was going to see the symphony's performance "Madama Butterfly" that evening and couldn't get him a ticket because it was sold out(!). He said, "No problem." -- that we could use his parents' tickets -- they always bought a subscription despite wintering in Florida -- so I ran down and turned my ticket into the office so someone else could attend. It was a "puttin' in the glitz' night and I went home to take a nap and get dressed in my favorite little black dress and a beaded jacket because I knew with the 80 degree temp we had yesterday, the AC would be set on 'refrigerate'. He came by and picked me up and it was really nice to see all the people who spoke with us about the Fair Bridget. It wasn't easy for him but he held up just fine. The performance was magnificent and deserved the standing ovation we gave them. Since it was late when it ended, we got out as quickly as we could because we wanted to get to the pub as quickly as possible so we could get a late supper. He dropped me at the door so I could get our order in and as I walked in I heard, "There she is!" I stopped and asked Ana if we could get dinner but alas!, she had closed the kitchen early because business was so slow so I went and sat down with Timmy and Joe who demanded, "Where in the hell have you been?" I answered, "The opera and have I got a surprise for you!" as Jeff walked in and joined us. They were delighted to see him and I think being with those nuts was good for him, too. We settled for a beer with them and talked and laughed until Ana told us she was closing early and sent us packing. Jeff and I decided that Burger Death was going to have to be it and picked up some food, and took it to my place to eat and then he went home because I was falling asleep.
Shaughnessy and I dropped him at the airport to return to Florida Sunday morning so I'll be staying at his place with Shaughn until he and his dad return. They're having a memorial service down there before they bring her home. I have a feeling I'll be camped there a lot for a while with all the things that need to be done but that's what friends do. I'm just glad that I've the time to do it and only wish I had more energy.
Lynda called and asked if I could come over and stay with Mike this afternoon -- he's still not in good enough shape to be left alone as his balance is out of kilter. I said no problem and that I'd bring supper for them as well. I'm taking some movies along, too, as well as my notes on what I need to do for Jeff. Lynda said I should stay for dinner but I need to walk Shaughn and take care of some things there. Thank God for cell phones!!!!
I'm hoping that later I'll have time/energy to get around and see y'all -- it seems like I'm sleeping entirely too much but I'm not going to even think about calling the doctor until I get through the next few days. I left myself a note not to forget The Friday Groaner again.
Speaking of TFG, here's the truly excellent contribution from Darlene of Darlene's Hodgepodge that should have been posted this past Friday! Enjoy!!!!
Did y'all hear about the veterinarian who was barred from performing surgery because of his poor record?
The police busted him for attempting to operate on a sick bird. However, the case was thrown out on a technicality . . .
It was an ill eagle surgeon seizure!

* A dog gave birth to puppies near the road and was cited for . . . littering.
And I know that Claude is simply going to loooooove this last one! And oh yeah, Jams will love it, too!

The Friday Groaner
My dear friend Susan over at Suzzwords sent me a fabulous list called CREATIVE PUNS FOR "EDUCATED" MINDS and it has two dozen of the finest one-liner groaners I've seen in a long time. I'm not going to post all of them at once so you will get multiple truly stellar groooaaannns today and can look forward to more. If you get a chance, stop by her blog and thank her. And, as always, enjoy!!!!!!
* The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much pi.
* I thought I saw an eye doctor on an Alaskan island, but it turned out to be an optical Aleutian.
* She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.
* A rubber band pistol was confiscated from algebra class . . . because it was a weapon of math disruption.
