My hero, Bernie Sanders, spoke for 90 minutes yesterday on the floor of Congress about a sensible solution for the financial crisis. Here's the video and y'all can visit his website and stand with Bernie by signing the letter he's sending to the President. When I signed there were over 65,000 signers and I hope thousands more are forthcoming!!!! Please help by signing and spreading the word!!!

Friday -- Quick Notes
I got a lot done yesterday but there's still a lot to do. I'm one those people who has "but first" syndrome; i.e.. I say, "I'm going to clean out the cupboards, but first I have to . . ." So everything takes longer than I planned. (sigh) The good news is that I feel motivated -- and that's a good thing.
* The quilt exhibition that was cancelled last week due to snow is tonight. Guess what? It's snowing. Sigh. I hope to go and have pictures tomorrow.
* My friend Robert the Skeptic asked (shouted) this pertinent question in comments yesterday: "WHY IS PALIN STILL IN THE NEWS??? ARGGGGHH!" I understand and I've asked it, too. I think it's because the damn Tea Party loves her. I'm boycotting her along with Faux News until the word that she's done comes in from my sources.
* T. Boone Pickens -- my favorite billionaire -- was on The Daily Show talking about what he knows best: oil. He makes great sense. We're the only country in the world without an energy plan. Why?
* I'm still be hind on email and visiting. When I'm in housework mode, it's best if I stay on task so I'll be catching up with y'all soon. I hope.
Here's the song of the week: The Jefferson Airplane live -- how's that for a blast from the past? I loved Grace Slick's voice.
Hope y'all are having a great day!!!!

Update and a Giggle or Two
The saga continues. Jeff and Shaughnessy are leaving for Florida on Monday so perhaps my life will return to its 'normal' (for me) existence.
Thanks to all y'all who expressed concerns but there's nothing really horrible happening -- just Jeff, bureaucratic B.S. and assorted other nonsense add up to overload. I feel awful that I'm not keeping up on y'all and that I haven't posted much. Hopefully, things will settle quickly.
Kent McKamy sent this along and, in addition to that it's a classic that I love, it's funny as hell!!! Enjoy!!!!!!

Quick Notes
A note is all I can manage today along with The Groaner of the Week in the post below. We're having our citywide "Celebrate Neighborhoods and Candidates Night" and I'll be at the civic center nearly alllllllll day. It's been an ordeal and my resignation from the committee will be forthcoming along with that of two other officers. There's a fine line between leadership and dictatorship and we're done as soon as we go on record as disapproving of certain improprieties which I'll probably rant on later. Even the founder of the committee is considering resigning so you know it's bad.
Yeah, I'm still coughing but feeling better. Looks like the meds have kicked in this time. Hallelujah!!!
I do want to tell y'all about a site I found that is truly outstanding. It's aptly called Straight Talk on McCain and I spent hours exploring it and its excellent links last night after the author left a comment here on yesterday's post. I think y'all will find it interesting, too, as it addresses some issues that the mainstream media has ignored. When Christopher Buckley, son of the late William F. Buckley and a leading Conservative Republican himself, endorses Obama one has to ask, "What's wrong with this picture?"

And oh yeah, stop by and see Fran at Sacred Ordinary. She has a wonderful Christopher Columbus groaner that I'm swiping for my archives. She calls me her "groaner guru". LOL What a sweetie she is!

Update & a Couple Notes
I woke up this morning feeling like hell and decided that I had best make a list and do all the essential errands before I headed to the doctor. It seems I have an upper respiratory infection. It explains why I haven't felt well. I went to the doc and he gave me a scrip and told me to rest (what's that?) today and tomorrow and that I could go back to work on Wednesday. When I went to pick up my scrip for antibiotics, I stopped by for my favorite thing to eat when I am ill: Wonton soup and egg rolls from my fav takeout. I call it Chinese penicillin and it works a treat. Even better, it's right next door to my pharmacy. Cool, huh?
* One of best and most intelligent pieces I've read on the passing of the bailout bill can be read here in Congressman Ron Paul's weekly column. I like Ron even if I don't agee with him 100% but he does love the Constitution and often makes a great deal of sense. It angers me that our letters and emails to our senators and congressmen fell on deaf ears and that makes me very cranky. Bush's scare tactics worked and that, my friends, is so very sad.
* Last night I ignored not feeling well and attended the opening of our symphony's season. With what it costs for my season tickets (my favorite present to moi), I have to be in the hospital or dead to miss a single minute. It was a wonderful programme that opened with Leonard Bernstein's overture from Candide -- a whimsical delight! Next was Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 61 featuring the beautiful, nationally acclaimed violinist, Jennifer Frautschi, who received a standing ovation from our appreciative audience. I was interested in her violin because it was made by Antonio Stradivarius when he was in his 90s as those of us who attended the "prelude" -- where Maestro Zimmerman discussed the programme -- learned before the concert began. It's always a wonderful learning experience. After Intermission, the orchestra presented an excellent interpretation of Brahm's Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Opus 73 -- forty minutes of pure beauty. I'm no music critic but I loved this programme and if it's an indication of things to come, it's going to be an awesome season!!!!
* I posted this Jack Cafferty video a while back and I think it bears repeating although Hillary's out of the race. It points out our weaknesses as citizens and calls John McCain exactly what he is. Whaddaya think?
