It's My Blogoversary!!!!

Six years and 1,299 posts ago I gave birth to this adventure due to my long-time 'Net friend Hal, aka AQ, who blogs at The Way I See It and encouraged and helped me to get started in a new addiction. Like all births it's been been interesting, painful, fulfilling, and frustrating -- sometimes all at once -- and always a great learning experience. (Oh no!!! Not another learning experience!!!!)

The best gift I received was that of friendship. All y'all who read here -- regularly or otherwise -- are ever so dear to me and I appreciate that. You have educated me in oh so many ways.

A special thanks to Ronni Bennett who made me an Elderblogger early in my journey here because it really enriched my life, and through it, I had the honor privilege of meeting so many of you here or in the "real world"! You have educated me, entertained me, sometimes astounded me, and have been an invaluable source of support on the rocky path of life."Thank you" seems an inadequate response to all y'all have given me, but it fits better than anything else I can think of at the moment.

Here's one of my favorite oldies -- from my misspent youth (of course) -- that says a lot of what I feel toward y'all!!! It's a fairly new one and he has a lot less hair (and so do I!) but he sure still can sing.

What's next?  Heck if I know!!!  I'll just keep on wandering -- and writing -- as long as I can!!!

Again, thanks!!!! Here's to another year!!!!! Consider yourselves hugged!!! AND, in the words of the late, great Cab Calloway: I love you madly!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!

My Brain Dead 5th Blogoversary

I wasn't going to post today and had explained why (see the italics below)and as I was about to hit 'publish' and the light bulb went off in my head and I said, "Holy Toledo!!!! It's my 5th Blogoversary!!!! Five years of holding forth on assorted nonsense!!! My undying thanks to all y'all for your friendship and support -- especially AQ, Joy, Ronni, Judy and Millie who have been with me the longest. I treasure all of you who visit here!!!!

That said I'm taking the day off. Here is why:

I have been staring at this blankety-blank-blank screen for hours; I've searched my folders and archives where I keep ideas. I checked my favorite news and 'Net sources and couldn't even find anything I liked on YouTube! There is zero, zilch and nada that I want to write about today. I don't know why but I can't. My alleged brain is empty and should be declared dead.

Sooooooooo I guess that this is as good as it gets today 'cause I'm going back to bed and pull the covers over my head and leave them there as long as it takes to wake up my poor damaged brain.

Hopefully, I'll have brain function later today and can get around to visit all y'all.

Hope y'all are having a great day!!!!!!

It's My Blogoversary!!!!!!!!!!

Four years ago today -- with great trepidation -- I began my adventure in blogging!!!!!! I had no idea what I was doing or what I wanted to do here and there are some who probably say that I still don't -- but you can bet that I wasn't considering The Groaner of the week!

I want to thank all the wonderful people across the country and the world who have traveled here and become friends. You are all precious to me and I love you madly for your friendship, support and excellent comments!!!! And you have helped me greatly with your wit, wisdom and support!!!!!!!

I seem to recall that I wasn't snowed in on that fateful day as I am today. (sigh)
Gotta love Ohio weather.

What's next? Heck if I know! My electic mind travels a rocky and twisted path so it's always an adventure!!!!!

What I do know is that the adventure will continue and I look forward to it!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Blogoversary to Me!!!!!!!!!!!

It's my third Blogoversary!!!!!!!!!!

Where did the years go? When I started this in 2006, I had no idea what I was doing. All I know is that my good friend, AlwaysQuestion, talked a lot about his blog and it sounded like it could be an interesting endeavor and so with his encouragement, I began to seriously consider
venturing into the Land of Blog. As with most things, I dithered about it a bit and finally set up Kay's Thinking Cap as my online home. I am stunned and amazed that I am still here.

The first month I had one comment -- from AQ. Depressing, yes? However, I soldiered on reminding myself that this place was for me!!!! And slowly but surely, I learned to navigate this new world and I, and my blog, grew. Today, over 560 posts and over 4,000 comments later, I am still here. I also have another, somewhat autobiographical blog as a result of this one. (Memes can spawn amazing things!)

The three years here have brought a steady stream of wonderful new friends and ideas and, since both are important to my psyche, it's been good for me.

What's ahead? God knows that some days I feel like chucking it all. Others days I could write forever. I do have some ideas for things I want to do here after I complete a few chores here to make it look a bit nicer -- I still haven't rebuilt my sidebar. I figured out how my scanner works so that means some really OLD photos of the Kay could appear soon.

I do want to take this opportunity to thank all y'all for your wonderful comments and support that keep me going. I appreciate the love, friendship, laughter, support, and knowledge y'all have shared with me through these years even when I'm in Cranky Old Broad mode.

Here's a video that says it all!!!!!!!!

Random Thoughts on a HOT Saturday

It's in the 90s here in Ohio and I 'm working alllllllllllllll day today and we don't have central air in our offices! It's our silly season and it got even sillier this week with happenings with some of our clients. I won't bore y'all with details except to say the INS wasn't involved. Whew!!!!

* Friday was a day off and I spent the whole day putting together a new shelving unit for my stereo. It's so heavy I can't finish without help. Hope Isaac is around when I get home.

* So many of you have had problems accessing the new
How I Got to Be Me blog that I did away with the registration stuff. I can't figure out how to fix it properly and "help" was helpless. It isn't listed anywhere do I'd advise that you bookmark it. Almost all the posts have been moved there and soon the new segments will be there, too.

* I tripped across
this article at CNN News. I think it has a lot of truth in it. Venting is good for your soul -- but we already knew that, didn't we? Shrinks say blogging shouldn't replace counseling -- I think they don't want their income to drop. Blogging is cheaper than a shrink and if it works, go for it! Just my take.

* A big "Atta girl!" to my friend, Lia, of
Yum Yum Cafe, won the very first prestigious Storytelling Excellence Award of The Elder Storytelling Place. Her story, Collective Critical Censorship, is a wonderful read and I guarantee you will love the ending as much as I did!!!

* Steph over at
Incurable Insomniac is celebrating her 6th Blogoversary this week. Stop by and check out her pretty new white sand and blue water layout and join the celebration.

* A friend who knows how much I love lobbyists -- NOT! -- sent this gem along from those wonderfully twisted folks at The Onion! I didn't know whether to giggle or cry.

Happy and a Little Bit Sad

Heartfelt thanks to all y'all who came by to help celebrate my blogoversary!!!!!!! Your kindness and encouragement are what keep me writing!!!! I appreciate you greatly and you do my heart good. Now if y'all could get me busy on finishing the Great American Novel . . . LOL! I had a busy day -- an appointment and truly boring, long meeting so I really didn't celebrate much even though I didn't work today. What I really wanted to do was spend it wandering around visiting y'all. I guess I'll be saving that excursion that for Friday 'cause it's back to the salt mine today.

On the downside, Joared of Along the Way and I have been commiserating over our Buckeyes' loss in the BCS via email. Yes, we're disappointed but since this was supposed to be a rebuilding year after losing so many seniors last year, I think making the national championship was an awesome accomplishment for these young players. I was really excited because the young man who made the last TD for the Buckeyes, Brian Hartline, is from here and a graduate of the high school my kids and I attended. I think they'll be a force to be reckoned with next year. I was also delighted to see Troy Smith and Ted Ginn Jr. (now playing in the pros) from last year's team on the sidelines to support their former team mates.

I congratulate the LSU Tigers for a great game. My annoyance was with the media, All week long and all through the game, all we read and heard was how our Buckeye's couldn't win. Why don't they shut up and let the kids play? I'm not even gonna whine about the refs but I could. Unlike the idiot who burned his Buckeye gear and videotaped it for YouTube (which I will not link here because that would dignify a heinous act), I am, ever and always, a Buckeye fan -- win, lose or draw and that, my friends, is a true fan. There's always next year.

Thanks again, my friends, Goooo Buckeyes and Happy Blogging!!!!!
