Just in Case . . .

Just in case anyone was wondering why I haven't been around . . . hey! It could happen!

I am alive and as well as can be expected because, in addition to other sturm und drang that's been invading my so-called life, my computer decided to be plain damned nasty and has put me through hell. I lost a LOT of files and folders and photos. I'm thanking God, Buddha, Allah, ad infinitum as well as plain damned luck that a good deal of it has been recovered. Then again, I may never know how much I have lost. The ex and I have been working like crazy for most of the past 48 hours and there is still a lot to do. Sigh.

I actually promised to take him to lunch at which should tell y'all what a great help he was. We discovered a really neat little program called Recuva that works a treat at recovering lots of stuff. I won't tell you how fast it is because it isn't but it does a great job.

I simply can't  tell y'all when I'll get back to what passes for normal in Kay's World but I hope it's soon.

Here's Mick and company performing  what has been pretty much my theme song for the past few days . . .

Hope y'all are having a great day and that I can get some time to visit and write!!!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!

Kay

  3. Well that's got to be maddening. I am glad you got most of it back. I worry that it could happen to me as it has to my husband. I try to remember to always back everything up on a jump drive but a person never really gets it all.

Terrible losing files and folders, Kay! Glad your ex was able to somewhat salvage it. Yeah, take him out to lunch, what the heck.

  5. Don't ya' hate that! I lost my list of passwords a cpl. of weeks ago -- boy, was that a bummer.

Anyway, good luck and thanks for the tip on Recuva which I'm noting down, just in case.

  8. Oh no; lost photos, files, etc. Been there; done that. I still do not have my photos and music back and guess they are gone forever. It really makes me heartsick when that happens.

There is a program that will keep that from happening called Carbonite, but since it isn't free I have avoided downloading it.

  10. That is one of the most frustrating things....EVER. I hope you recover all your data. I've been in the process of backing up a lot of files on my computer so this very thing won't happen.....I'm still not done. Good luck sweetie... ~Joy

  12. Okay, my message just went into cyber space. Crap. I think I said something like I had a crash recently and used a program similar to the one that you used. Wish I were better about back-ups!

Now I hope there will be a change for the better in your life. Take care.

  13. Sorry to read you're having such a hassle with the computer, but good you were able to retrieve so much.

I stopped by to read your take on what's happening in Columbus and the union employees issue. Change is needed to which unions have agreed but several State's governors seem bent on much more and eliminating employee bargaining rights. Unfair way to balance a budget.

  18. Computer problems are the worst. My husband’s desktop stopped working because it is old and has not any memory left so we need to work on it. I went over all your posts and enjoyed them very much. I feel bad that you had such cold weather and I was in Hawaii having a great time under the sun. You posted some neat videos. I feel for you with what is going in on in Ohio politics and hope for the best. Thanks for coming to my blog while I was away.

  20. Glad the computer is back. Since you are having your 19th nervous breakdown, I think you are done. There aren't anymore breakdown songs, so you should be perfect from here on out!
