Old TV -- Comedy (Part 1)

The advent of television brought comedy to the small screen and put a lot of actors to work. The weekly comedies drew huge audiences and we laughed a lot. For the next couple weeks we'll look at a few of what has come to be known as sitcoms.

One of the top shows was "I Love Lucy" -- I know it was a favorite at our house! I don't think anyone who grew up in the 50s can forget the theme song!!!!

Here's a classic clip from "I Love Lucy" that I know y'all will enjoy:

Okay!!!! Are y'all done laughing???? Next week we'll look at some other comedy shows!!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!

  1. I loved Lucy and got a huge kick out of Jack Benny. I loved George Burns and his Gracie, too. I don't know any show right this moment that gives me the same warm feeling those shows did. Oh wait... I loved That Girl, too. Um... Rhoda...
    Sigh....

  2. Oh that episode and the one with Lucy and Ethel at the candy factory sends me into hysterics. I just don't believe we have actors with such talent anymore. Laughter is the best medicine.

  3. Lucy and Andy Taylor and Barney still make me laugh. And they do it without the blue material in most sitcoms today.

  4. Loved all those too! (the other Kay)
My favorite Lucy episodes were the wine stomping piece, and the candy factory scene when Lucy and Ethel kept poking candy in their mouths. I toured a candy factory here in November and saw that same belt line...adding my own comedy to that, I bit down into that taffy and lost my crown. Thanks for the memories as Jack Benny would say.

  6. How fun on a cold afternoon. Thanks for the chuckles!

And I agree, TV is not the same. I was always amused that my kids enjoyed the old shows better than the new ones.

  8. I think I'm wierd. Everybody I know loved "I Love Lucy". I didn't laugh, I always wondered why she would do that. But, I loved and laughed at The Three Stooges.
    I know, I'm a strange child :)
