Kay's World, Politics, and Other Insanity

It's another day in paradise. Yesterday morning I discovered a rather cute kitten on my front porch crying. As near as I can tell he/she was abandoned. In a perfect world, I might adopt him/her but I can barely afford to feed myself properly due to cuts much less pay for neutering and shots so I'm trying to figure out what to do about him/her.

Here are some more timely graphics and videos. Enjoy

* Why we should be proud to be feminists . . .

* I always knew that George Carlin had a rapier wit but I didn't realize he was prophetic. Here's Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker up to no good with a comment from George that applies. Please be advised that George uses rather strong language . . . but y'all knew that, didn't ya?

* I hear a lot of people saying that they're not interested in politics as they question my interest/participation in the political. German poet/playwright Berthold Brecht offers a powerful statement on why knowing what's going on and why it's important is essential.

* Another reason I don't/won't do Facebook . . .

Saverin, the billionaire co- founder of Facebook Inc. renounced his U.S. citizenship before an initial public offering that values the social network at as much as $96 billion, a move that may reduce his tax bill.

Hope y'all are having a great day!!!

Happy Blogging

  1. George Carlin says it in a nutshell.
The reason I don't participate in politics any longer is I think it is a waste of energy. I think we've been beaten. I know that sounds lame.

    1. George is always right on. I understand your stance but if good people give up, we are ceding our future to the idiots. I can't do that to my grandchildren.

  2. The best thing to do with the kitten is to take it to an animal shelter and hope someone will adopt it. If you let it roam free, it will wind up having its own kittens etc. etc. (Also -- you have the wrong image up for Brecht's quote, and I really wanted to read that!)

    1. The kitten is gone. And thanks -- see what happens when I hurry? The quote is there now.

  3. I like the feminist poster a lot. I'm not sure how I feel about politics because I feel almost as much despair as I sense in Rubye Jack's comment above. I just hope it's not true.

    1. When good people give up, we are ceding our future to people who will hurt us. I don't want that. I'm going down fighting.

  4. I couldn't get the video (as I don't know the politician it doesn't much matter) but everything else speaks to me as if from my own lips. I am involved in feminism still, although many young women sneer at me, and knowing the politics of one's country is an obligation, I feel.

    1. I'm with you. I notice that many young women are still hung up on that they have to have a man to have value.

  5. I wouldn't argue with Berthold Brecht. But I think he's the past, and Mark Zuckerberg is the future.

  6. lots of clinics and even some private vets will neuter and immunize for free if you tell them you took in a stray

I hate Facebook and I'm thrilled that I never bothered with it

You are the first one to mention Dale Spender in many, many years. She did important writing back in the day--"Manmade Language." After your reminder, I checked and last book, "Nattering on the Net," came out in '95 and she herself says it's a bit out of date!
