Give 'em Hell, Bernie

Bernie Sanders took the floor of the Senate and issued a rousing "Shame on you!" to the Republicans:

Here's a text excerpt from Bernie's speech that gives the gist of the video:

As Social Security emerged as a target in White House budget negotiations, Sen. Bernie Sanders insisted that the retirement program must not be cut as part of any deficit reduction deal.

"Let us be clear," Sanders said. "Social Security has not contributed one nickel to our deficit or our national debt." The program that benefits more than 50 million seniors and disabled has a $2.6 trillion surplus, he stressed, and will be able to provide full benefits for every eligible American for the next 25 years. "I am especially disturbed that President Obama is considering cuts in Social Security after he campaigned against cuts in 2008," Sanders added.

Thank you, Bernie!!!! You spoke for us eloquently and well!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!

I keep waiting for some of the legislators to bring up the fact that SS isn't a part of the national debt. Did all of the Dems flunk debate in high school?

P.S. I should have written, "Is Bernie the only Democrat who did not flunk debate in high school?"

  11. Kay -- Great video with Bernie Sanders -- he always comes through. My big concern is that -- are people listening, do they realize the dire straits of our economy?

And to Anonymous I say -- yes, SS is not part of the national debt -- why is the media afraid to admit to this as well as Mr. Obama?

It is up to the people now to "kick" out the politicians that are turning our country over to the rich.

    Will the people come through??
