Bill was off last week and was obviously thinking long and well about what's happening in this country and I think the 5-minute video says all too well:
I wish I had text for those of you who have problems with video.
It's definitely a stand alone piece and I hope that Obama didn't miss it! I said long ago that I was tired of his trying to play nice with the other kids because the other kids are a poorly-raised bunch of spoiled brats and bullies who don't know to play nice and share their toys. Mr. President, it's time to take a lesson from Teddy Roosevelt and carry a big stick -- and use it, if necessary -- or if you prefer, do a Harry Truman and give 'em hell so they know how you really feel and take care of the people who gave you your job. You weren't elected by the highest 1% -- you were elected by elders and the middle and lower income folks who had "the audacity of hope" to believe in you! It's time to remember us and restore the hope and faith we placed in you!
Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!
Kay
I'm one of those folks who has problems with videos--connection is too slow. However, I really love Bill Maher!
ReplyDeleteI got so sick of politics that I have seriously given up paying any attention or putting any energy into caring. I find the situation that hopeless.
My speakers are currently on the blink, so no videos for me at the moment.
ReplyDeleteKay, I'm no longer sure Obama is on our side at all. I've come to suspect he's doing exactly what he wants to do, and not naively being taken advantage of.
Bill Maher was on Piers Morgan's show last night, and it was great. I have followed Bill Maher since he was the host of 'Politically Incorrect'. I think he makes a whole lot of sense!! He explains things so easily.
ReplyDeleteLinda: Sorry! I would do a transcript myself but I type too slow and haven't time or patience to do it. And yeah, I am sick of politics, too, but I'm staying the course because, in good conscience, I can't allow them to ruin what little quality I have left in my life.
ReplyDeletePaul: Sorry! See my note to Linda. I suspect that Obama has sold us out, too, but I'm not giving up -- if I did, I'd be untrue to my principles and that's really all I have left in this world of any value.
Mare: I agree. I just wish, our leaders exhibited the same.
Good Post! I too, have a video problem but I watch Bill Maher & love him to pieces. I really liked your comment, you spoke for all of us. Obama does need to act like a Truman :)
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing the Republicans decrying raising taxes on the "job creators"! WTFF??! WHAT job creators?? The ones who keep having their tax breaks renewed? THOSE job creators. By the way, why do the Republicans call them "jobs creators"? When were they planning to start???!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but my Opinion is that if Obama had a big stick he would not know what to do with it. He would probably poke out his own eye while complaining about others.
ReplyDeleteObama is not the brightest crayon in the box.
10-4 Willy
LTTS: I agree!
ReplyDeleteRobert: The GOP sure as hell haven't created any jobs in Ohio -- they've actually been killing them and tried to destroy the unions but we fixed them.
Wily: I thought we agreed to disagree and I keep my mouth shut on your blog and I would appreciate it you keep yours shut on mine or I will no longer allow your comments on mine. The Republicans are categorically attempting to impoverish the poor, the middle class and senior citizens and anyone who supports the Republican party are not on the side of the American people. You sir, are not a patriot. How many million are you worth?
There is something about Obama's demonstrated proclivities that I do not get: Why does he negotiate with the other party at all? He should be dealing with his own constituency via congressional leaders of his own party. He is their putative leader. He only lends power to the opposing party when he, who is Chief Executive of our government, deals directly with them.

Willy is one of our problems! Good comeback Kay.
ReplyDeleteCC: I agree!!!
ReplyDeleteAlice: Thanks!!! I agreed to disagree with him ages ago. I almost disallowed his comment but let it stand -- I will not allow anymore like it.
AMEN to that!! great post..
ReplyDeleteWhy is it the SS and Medicare are the first things on the agenda..and education... when is the salary cutbacks for Congress, and their benefits, and retirement and etc. coming up on the table, instead of the automatic raises and etc? Why is it the under $75,000 the first to be hit? I don't get it.
(I too, have dial up, so videos especially long ones are hard for me)
I'd love to see some marching in the streets again. A whole bunch of us voted for Obama and then we went about our lives hoping he'd straighten everything out. But his opposition is so powerful that we need to get out there and be the spine of our own party. We need to speak up and speak out. Give our leaders the courage of their own--well, they'd be convictions if they followed through. So far they're just...druthers.
