Sunday Need a Break Random Thoughts

It's been a busy week filled with lots of distractions and other assorted nonsense and annoyances as well as some insights and long thoughts.

* The main reason I haven't written much about my job with the Census is that I took an oath that I maintain confidentiality and they take it very, very seriously so I do, too. It's been interesting, to say the least, but I haven't had any horrific experiences . . . yet. Amen and hallelujah!

* Quote of the Week: "My problem with Palin is no longer Palin; it is the stench of media and political corruption that has enabled this total phony to thrive." -- Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Dish.

* I'm postponing my visit to Toledo until my commitment to the Census is done. I talked to my stepmom and she's okay with that. Bless her good heart for being understanding. I think it helps that I can stay longer if I don't have to dash back here to work. I think vacations should be leisurely.

* I had an interesting and thought-provoking conversation with Jeff's partner/best friend's wife the other day -- like I needed more to think about. I think my "windshield time" when I head north will help a lot. I'm staying off the turnpike which puts me crazy in favor of the roads less travelled. I gave up NASCAR speeds long ago.

* My ex stopped by on Thursday to drop off a couple discs and handed them to me and said "Happy Anniversary!" May 20th would have been our 38th wedding anniversary. I was not amused. It sent a message I don't like much but I refused to play and just laughed. It's yet another wrinkle in any thoughts I have about my future happiness.
My friends are angry.

* I'm trying hard to keep up with y'all and will continue to do so.

Hope y'all are enjoying your weekend!!!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

Your ex's statement was in poor taste, all things considered.

  2. Your Sarah Palin quote is the absolute truth. I am speechless at how she and her family continue to be hired for anything. It makes me crazy.
Re: your ex...at least you aren't listening to that BS on a daily basis.
    Hang in there, Kay!

  3. Your ex's anniversary statement was probably not a good choice; especially since you were not amused. Since you know him much better than any of us...I'm sure you knew how to take it.

I totally agree with Andrew Sullivan's statement....that's exactly how I feel about SP. ~Joy

  4. Joy's right. Poor taste in one and come to think of it, in SP too.

  5. sounds like the ex continues to give you reasons to be glad he's EX!

I've reached the point with Palin that I just want to mute the TV every time someone mentions her name (it's that or throw things!)

glad to see you are surviving the "day job" --- hang in there, and enjoy the paycheck!!

  6. gigi: poor taste is an understatement but that is not a place I want to go here.

Mare: re: Palin -- Amen! re: ex -- Amen!

Joy: I didn't take it well but didn't let him know it. There's an underlying message there. And yeah Sullivan was right on -- he's the only conservative left with a functioning brain.

    Judy: Thank you!

Bev: I agree on all you said!

  8. All I can say about the quote of the week is "RIGHT ON!!" The media needs to stop giving press (and credence) to that moron.

Of course, I have no idea of the circumstances of the ex, but that is in poor taste no matter what. Glad you were able to take the high road and not give him the satisfaction of a reaction.

Sarah is Exhibit A in any discussion of what has gone wrong in our country. The fact that anyone listens to her, let alone reports on her is beyond comprehension. As my grandma used to say, "What is this world coming to?" No good, that's what, grandma.
