I'm Always Chasing Rainbows . . .

Today I awakened to an ugly day and then it got worse. Never mind that The Weather Channel told me that it was a balmy 61 degrees -- unusual for an Ohio November. It was grey and drizzly and downright yucky. I toddled off to the bus stop to go to work and the deluge hit: a huge heavy rain that lasted into the afternoon. Needless to say I was rather damp when I arrived at the community center where the non-profit agency that employs me is located and feeling rather cranky.

Late this afternoon the sun popped out among the clouds and I looked forward to my break with pleasure. I always go outside on my breaks no matter what the weather; I like to breathe real air and clear out my brain. I also like to look at the neighborhood and see what people are doing. I looked up at the sky and, lo and behold!, there was a rainbow similar to the one in the photo above! I basked in it's beauty and marvelled at the miracle of God's creation. Rainbows have always touched my heart and given me hope since my childhood.

As I grudgingly headed back in the building I stuck my head in the door of the library branch and said, "Hey! Come see! There's a rainbow outside!" An elderly lady turned to her grandchildren and said, "Get out there!" as she rose to go look herself. Most of the other kids follwed and I was delighted again at the wonder of their oooooooooooooooooohhhhsssssssss and aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhssssssssss. Grandma said, "Look at that! It's God's promise!" and she turned to me and said, "Thank you!" I smiled and told her, "I always share my rainbows -- I think God wants that." and, as I headed back to my office, I was greeted by a group of little girls I know and I asked them, "Have you ever seen a rainbow? Go out front and look!" They took off running and squealing as only little girls can and a bit later from my desk (my office has windows and I can see the front doors and hall) I saw them dragging the center director to see the rainbow.

Our agency's education director returned and had to wade through the kids to get to the office and told me laughingly, "You really started a ruckus, didn't you?" I grinned smugly and said, "Yeah! Gotta share your rainbows!" And I decided that I would share a rainbow with you, my gentle blogging friends. May your lives be blessed with many rainbows -- both real and metaphorical.

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!
