Getting Better -- or Something like it!!!!!

I'm tired. Surgery always leaves me drained and this one has been exceptionally so. Still, I am healing and that's a good thing. I'll be glad after I see Dr. Maria and Dr. Dave next week -- mostly because I want to be able to drive as I hate having to beg people (who said "Just call me!" to take me where I need to go.

* I had to go to the optician the other day because a lens popped out of my glasses and couldn't find anyone but the ex to help. He's done more than his share and I really hate asking as he's taking me to my appointments next week.

* The scar that runs from my right ear to my collar bone is healing. I hope it starts to fade, too. I'm pretty self-conscious about it and it will prolly keep me home a lot because of total strangers stares and queries about it -- like they really care or it's their business. Hopefully, Vitamin E will help when I get the okay for it.

* Alec called to ask me if I'd go get Jeff's house ready as he and Shaughnessy are coming back from Florida. I explained that I absolutely couldn't this time and didn't tell him why -- I don't need or want his son bugging me.

* I signed a petition from the Democratic party against the Republicans' radical budget that will gut Medicare and Social Security. It's a death sentence for many of us -- especially women who don't have a lot of money or those of us who aren't well. Y'all can sign it here and I hope you will.

* This came in my email this morning and I think it's right. It also applies to elders in my not so humble opinion.

* And Willie Nelson, the farmers' best friend, makes a powerful statement on the plight of the family farms today and as the granddaughter of family farmers, I have to pass it on.

And here's Willie at Farm Aid (where he appears every year-- I respect that) with a great medley . . .

Hope y'all are having a great day!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

I don't normally bug my closest friend with political stuff; but, the Colonel Sander's cartoon got forwarded. We have to put a stop to the war on women that is being waged!

  2. Glad you are getting better AND sticking up for yourself. Like you, I can't fathom why any woman would vote Republican.
We count on local farmers here for fresh food, and most them are struggling. Support your local farmer isn't just an abstraction to us but an everyday reality. These are our friends and neighbors

  3. One thing that life and time have taught me is that nobody notices your scars nearly as much as you do. When you realize that, then you don't worry about your scars anymore.

  4. Just take it real easy for as long as you want. The scar will be gone and in the meantime look 'em straight in the eye and only smile. Rude you know what's.

  5. When people stare at your scar, how about saying:" Yes, awful isn't it, that's where the axe struck me. I'm lucky to be alive."

  6. So glad to read you are feeling better. I went and signed that Medicare petition. Bullies do not back off until people stand up to them and, let's face it, right now the Republican Party are nothing but bullies.

  7. Ditto all the good wishes already expressed here! And double ditto for the comments about the scar. Friko's on the right track. I hope those that couldn't or didn't help you out when you needed them have a good reason; otherwise you know who your real friends are now. I'd do it but SLC is a helluva long way from where you live! Otherwise I'd be there. Keep getting stronger!

  8. Now that I'm really old, I'm finally getting some mileage out of the scar by my left eye. People finally get up to offer me their seat on the metro--even on the bus. And usually I smile and say, "No thanks...I've been sitting all day." Personally, I hate that scar. I think it makes me look like a cow stepped on the side of my face, but my friends all say, "Oh, NO! I never notice it." ha.

  9. P.S. Good for you for signing that petition! And thanks for the tune from Willie Nelson. Glad you're feeling feisty again!

I agree with Friko and Alice: Give 'em something to think about. "You should have seen the other guy!" "It's a scar. Get over it!" "It's my badge of survival!"

I think that most people would just be a little curious - wondering what you went through to get such a scar. (You probably don't want to hear tales about those whose scars dwarf yours, do you? *smiling*)

We're all in this life together. Hang in there. It is too bad that we blog friends can't reach out, physically, to help one another.

  11. Heal quickly my friend!

" because of total strangers stares and queries about it -- like they really care or it's their business."
Give em the finger Kay. If you were a guy you could tell them you cut yourself shaving....

  13. Happy Holiday to you, Kay, and I am happy to read that your surgery is done and all is well...short of a bit more time for a bit more recovery. Hang in there!
