Global Warming Simplified

This is gonna be short and quick because I spent a long time visiting y'all and a lot of time working around here yesterday. I hope y'all notice the addition to my sidebar from our local firefighters' union against Ohio Senate Bill 5 which kills collective bargaining.

A nice surprise I had the other day was that Ellen, who describes herself as a 'long-time lurker' here (I have lurkers? Get out here!), left a comment here indicating that she is a fellow Buckeye who grew up in a union family just like me. She has an excellent blog here where she displays her lovely knitting. Stop by and take a look!

She also posted this excellent video on global warming that clarifies it so that even a totally non-scientific liberal arts type like me can understand it. It sends a really powerful message.

Hope y'all are having a great day!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

  3. Wow, it's like TV's "Mythbusters" for the ecological set! Methane, huh? Isn't that what ... well, it's just too bad they can't harness all that gas and use it to power electric cars.

Anyway, eye-opening post. And may we all stand in favor of collective bargaining!

  4. That video is both fascinating and worrying.

As for what is happening in Wisconsin,
Indiana, Ohio, I am always disheartened when so called defenders of the Constitution ignore it when it interferes with their agenda.

"Congress shall make no law... prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging...the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The governor of Wisconsin, who wants the protesters to go away, and that deputy attorney general in Indiana, who thinks they should be shot, are both "respect my authority!" types of fools. They believe in the process of democracy as long as people do not challenge them.

There is a thin line between Democracy and Fascism. It always amazes me how quickly some government employees- and the governor of Wisconsin and that deputy attorney general in Indiana are both government employees- are ready to step over that line.

  5. Lorna: I love you, too!

Judy: It's really great, isn't it? See water catch fire really sent a wake up call to me and I've become a lot greener in 6 minutes.

Sightings: Indeed! And I like your idea! But if they bust the unions, no one will be able to afford a bew car.

    Colleen: Amen! Well said!

  6. all the energy wasted arguing about global warming could be spent working on fixing things
    I get so frustrated

I am a union person too as is my son
his union is having a meeting tonight to discuss how to show support for the WI workers
our pig of a governor - NJ's Christie - is one step away from suggesting we kill workers and the poor

I love how you always find a way to inform and inspire

  11. Mammoths have been found preserved in the permafrost in Siberia. At some point there must have been no permafrost and a mild climate.Very few of mankind around then to cause warming enough to melt Siberian permafrost. Climate change? Things change and we move on.Besides I'm looking forward to sunning myself on the sands of Hudson Bay.

  12. Oh my gosh! This is so scary. I read Michael Crichton's State of Fear. Do you know he doesn't believe in global warming. That was a surprise.

  13. Now I feel FAMOUS! So glad you reposted that little video - it's good, isn't it?

  14. Shana: I thank you!!!! And so do my friends here.

Kay: Yes I did know that Crichton didn't believe in it. I was sort of a skeptic and this video taught me (again) that there's a lot I don't know or understand.

Maggie: Love you, too, and I'm guilty of the same.

    John: I'm so glad.
