It's the Groaner of the Week -- Sorta!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a big week at the Thinking Cap!!! The Kay is sooo tired of politics and snarkiness and she's taking the week off from both. It's BEAT MICHIGAN Week!!!! Yeah, our beloved Ohio State Buckeyes will meet the University of Michigan Wolverines on Saturday afternoon at the Horseshoe (aka The 'Shoe) in Columbus to continue their gridiron rivalry which began in 1897. ESPN has rated it the greatest college football rivalry of all time. I'm ready.

And having editorial discretion instead of a groaner, here are some Ohio State-Michigan jokes. (I think in Michigan they tell them as Michigan-Ohio State jokes.) They are bad enough to cause a groooaaannn or two.

* Q: How do you get a Michigan Graduate off your front porch?
A: Pay him for the pizza.

* Q: Why is ice no longer available at Michigan football games?
A: Because the senior who knew the recipe finally graduated.

* Q: What does the average Michigan grad get on his/her SAT/ACT's?
A: drool

* Q: What's the only sign of intelligence in Ann Arbor?
A: Columbus 186 miles

* Q: What do you get when you have a basement full of Michigan fans?
A: A whine cellar

This picture is quite popular around OSU at this time of year. Whoever created it had a strange albeit funny sense of humor. I'm sure there's an equivalent in Ann Arbor.

Goooooooooooooooo Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!

  1. Yeah, that's the way it was in the old days when we had family UCLA tickets. When it came to that USC game, Lordy, lordy. I'll put in a good word for your team to the football patron saint once I figure out who she is.

  2. Love the snarkiness. Down here, they are told as UNC/Duke jokes.

  3. I should show this post to my old boss. He played for Michigan back in the day. :)

  4. Ah some friendly rivalry! Better than the fights we used to have (and still sometimes have) between football (soccer) hooligans here

  5. Thanks, y'all! lol It's a fun rivalry. The Buckeyes have a better record this year but in this game -- that goes out the window so I hope we pull it off!

  6. Interesting how these competitions occur between teams. Wonder what the history is of how they develop? Bet there's a story behind all these special competitions. Each seems to single out some other team that takes on a special rivalry. I think of Army vs Navy, for example, but I understand that rivalry because they're different branches of the military. Who is the Air Force Academies chief rival?

I recall my high school team had one particular neighboring school's team that was our chief rival.

Have friends whose emotions still go into high gear, especially the wife's, when the UCLA vs USC game is played. She's having a hard time this year 'cause UCLA's team hasn't been doing too well.

My husband shifted his allegiance from Ohio State to whatever team represented the Big Ten Conference each year (including to Michigan.) He was then against whoever they played here on the West Coast -- usually UCLA or USC in the Rose Bowl in year's past.

My friend tells me there's a possibility the Rose Bowl this year could be Ohio State vs USC again. OSU could have a chance to redeem themselves after such a poor showing earlier this year. Whaddya think?
