Hailstorm

I was worrying about what I was going to post today and God provided me with an answer!!!

I had escaped from the office early and dashed home to change for Julie's reception and the fiesta at Oscar's and while I getting ready, I heard a weird rattling on my side windows. I went out on the front porch to see marble-sized hail coming down. It was soon joined by thunder and real rain and I dashed for my camera and took a couple photos. It only lasted about ten minutes but it was a weird ten minutes. Blog dilemma solved! Here are the two I liked best:

You can see how hard the rain and hail were coming on my corner of the world. It really looked and felt kind of surreal.

I liked this photo because of the contrast between the petunias blooming on the porch wall and the hail on the lawn!! You can see poor, beloved Miss Ruby being pelted!

My phone is ringing and I really do have to get moving. With the clouds moving in there won't be a "glow" at the Balloon Festival tonight so Plan B is being negotiated. I'm off to my other obligations and will catch up with them later!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kay

  1. Those are impressive Pictures, it must have been quite a Hail storm, I hope the car wasn't damagaged. I observed a a hail storm some years back in Colorado Springs, that left the cars that were out looking like somebody had gone all over them with a ballpeen hammer.

  2. Kay that is quite the hailstorm.
Since I started blogging I find it amusing when something happens in my life or I read something interesting and my first thought is "that will make a good blog post!"
    Have a wonderful Sunday.

  3. Neat photos Kay. Be sure and check Miss Ruby very carefully. My kids had some major hail damage to their car a few years back. At first the car looked fine, then they got close and it had little marble size dents all over the hood, roof and trunk lid.

  4. Hey, Gary, I'm from Colorado Springs and hail storms were part of life. They kept the insurance adjusters in business assessing the damage to roofs (and I would imagine that dented cars came in for their share of damage claims, too.)

Kay, I hope there were no dents in your little red car. That would be pitiful.

  6. We get hail storms here in Okieland all the time. Fortunately, our cars have been spared, but I've seen some that looked like they had dimples on every square inch of their bodies.

Being a native Californian, hail is still weird to me.

I really like your neighborhood! Great front porches!

  7. Wow! That's a lot of hail. We've had hail stones on occasion here in northeastern Los Angeles County Calif. Some folk have mistaken it for snow and have had to explain the difference to them.

Looks like the petunias are kind of bewildered too. Like they're saying "thank God I'm in indoor plant!"

  9. Actually, they are outdoors and they live on the low walls surrounding my front porch.
