Kay's Corner of the World

I sent an email yesterday to Ronni Bennett with the picture below for her feature page, Where Elders Blog. It's my newly renovated center of Kay's World and is located in a corner of my dining room which is the largest (and my favorite) room in my apartment. It's where I spend most of my time at home so I was determined to make it an inviting and comfortable place since I had the money to do what I wanted for a change. I hope y'all like it as much as I do!!!!!!!!!

The new chair is wonderfully comfortable and my desk is minimally cluttered for the moment. And trust me when I tell you how rare that is! ;-) I almost put away my coffee cup but since it's pretty much a fixture, I decided to leave it in it's customary position. The framed poster above my desk is Vincent Van Gogh's "Irises" -- one of my favorite paintings. The little sign below it reads: "My desk may be cluttered, but my mind is EMPTY and it's a favorite of my collection of silly signs. Other permanent fixtures are my notebook and pen -- sometimes I even remember to write things down! I haven't quite got the shelves the way I want them but that will be an on-going organizational task that will reach fruition as I decide how best to store my stuff.

I'm getting more comfortable with my new computer and am swearing less at Vista and Dell. Adjusting to change isn't easy for this old gal. Life is pretty good and will be better when things get a bit more settled. I think I might even be less cranky lately.

I hope to get back to my writing and blogging more -- I do miss visiting y'all and appreciate your kindness and support! The more organized I get, the more time I'll have -- I hope. Catching up on e-mail is my next challenge. I think I'm taking a week off from work to just dedicate myself to catching up and getting a start on a couple projects for y'all. Hopefully, there will be a REAL vacation down the road but for now a week with no major obligations sounds good.

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!

Kay

  3. Joy: Thanks! It's a huge improvement! More pictures of my redecorating are forthcoming.

Marty: Glad you like the poster! I love the French Impressionists and have prints throughout my place. It's nice to be getting my place just the way I want it which probably means I'll be moving soon! LOL

  4. It looks very nice, Kay. I love the irises print - my umbrella has that on it. My office is large, but full of junk and needs painting. I don't know if I'll ever get around to it!

  5. I understand, Judy! The redcorating project, which has spanned my entire apartment, still isn't complete and all the junk I haven't decided about is in my little room at the back. THAT's gonna be job for Batman! Maybe I'll just give Emily some money and let her have at it! lol

  7. Looks nice, Kay. I haven't gotten my place organized since my husband died -- some sort of mental block, I guess. If I ever overcome this hurdle I may take a picture someday, and I'll really feel like I've reached the mountain's peak.
