Emptying My Mailbox -- again!!!!

Lots and lots going on these days and -- for better or worse it all seems to land in my email. So what's a gal to do except share it with all y'all?

This campaign is the nastiest I've seen in decades and I have a terrible feeling that it's just gonna get worse.

Here's some of the pieces I found interesting . . .

Here's Phyllis Diller at AFI remembering Barbara Streisand -- thanks for the laughs Phyllis and may a gracious God be good to you!

A prognostication from the past . . .

My hero, economist Robert Reich, explains the Romney/Ryan budget plan in a way we all can understand:

Another reason that Helen Keller is one of my heroes . . .

Here's a clip from Bill Maher that left me giggling -- hope y'all do, too!

The short version on Paul Ryan -- can you risk him? I can't.

My hero, Bernie Sanders, explains what Paul Ryan wants to do to us elders. I've been without healthcare and I truly believe that some of my ills are a result of that and I don't wish that on anyone except Paul Ryan and his running buddy. Yeah, I know that's mean but what they want for us is meaner.

The real GOP platform . . .

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett talk about taxes . . .

Hope y'all are having a great day!!! I'm off to HQ to do my part for Obama!!! It's fun and I've met a lot of great folks!!! Try it if you have the time and inclination!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

  1. Aaackkkk! Now I'm shaking in my boots. Seriously... I don't understand why Obama and Romney are running neck to neck. What the heck! Don't people remember what happened under the Republicans?

    1. No -- many of them just swallow what Faux News' lies.

  2. That quote and numerous other common sense statements are why lots of us "liked Ike."

    1. Indeed. My parents liked Ike and they were pretty much liberal. In fact, Ike was pretty much apolitical (as a good soldier is) and both parties wanted him as their candidate or so I was told.

  3. Mind boggling isn't it that anyone could support the two r candidates -- lack of r capitalization is deliberate on my part. In fact, I wrote "...2 rr's who I think of as capable of readin' and 'riting but lacking the major 3rd R of 'rithmetic's higher functions -- those that combine mathematical complexities with practical reasoning through rational thought."

  4. I can't understand why Romney (the Republicans) thinks seniors currently on Medicare should relax as the changes won't affect them personally. Does he think we're like him--and care only about ourselves and our family and everybody else can go to hell? I worry about my children/grandchildren who pay heavily into the system. What they don't explain is that the budget for medical provider's will be slashed and more doctors will refuse to take Medicare patients!
Re Phyllis Diller, she was a classy lady! Did you happen to see Joan River's tribute on the CBS Morning Show Tuesday? Joan "hates" everything and everybody but she had only loving and wonderful things to say about Phyllis. One last thought, then I'll stop! Do you suppose the "illegitimate" rape Congressman Akin alluded to are the ones the Republican party is attempting to pull on the country? Just saying!

    1. Phyllis is an Ohio gal who made good!!! And she never let her success spoil her.

The whole medical debate scares me. I went without healthcare for a few years until I got sick enough -- like I didn't already have serious issues -- to get into a program with a local hospital until I could get on Medicare.

I think Akin is a wart on the backside of humanity.

    1. He really was a great man -- and when he was president, the very rich paid a 90% tax rate!!!

    2. So hard for me to read that--my dad was an Adlai Stevenson man, and Ike was the neighbor man's guy: I associate him with golf, power mowers, new Oldsmobiles every year, and fez-wearing. Now, of course, he is looking better and better all the time.

    3. I grew up in a mostly blue collar neighborhood and remember a lot of people not approving of Stevenson's being divorced. In the 50s divorce was a scandalous and dirty word. God knows we had our share of Masons, Shriners and Knights of Columbus in our neighborhood and just about all the moms stayed home and we walked home for lunch everyday from school. Simpler times -- or so it seems from hindsight.

  6. This is the first time I'm not paying attention to the politics. They just make me sick....yes tho, I sure am voting.

Can you believe the great Diller was really that old?

I was as surprised as you are at Diller's age -- we Ohio gals last!!.

I'm sure tired of all the commercials and backstabbing :)
