Some of you may be wondering where in the hell I've been. I've been in hell aka the hospital since last Wednesday when my right eye decided to go haywire like it did a few months ago when it precipitated a batch of tests with Dr. Dave the vascular surgeon. Soooooooooo I called Dr. Dave and he told me to report to the hospital immediately. Diagnosis? Carotid Artery Disease. Soooooooooooo I've been in the hospital ever since and had my surgery yesterday instead of today as originally planned. There was also talk of my being sent to a nursing home for a few days because he didn't want me to be alone -- and I promptly threw a hillbilly fit on that. Michelle brought the kids to visit me along with a pot of yellow tulips. (big smile) Fortunately, Michelle's mom volunteered to come and keep an eye on me for a few days so I'm back home now. AND I'm not allowed to drive which I hope will end soon. The Ex has been a champ and took me to the hospital and back home again (including the grocery and my scrips) and as well as checking in daily. I'm on a pretty strict low cholesterol diet. Sigh. I'm also supposed to rest and eat healthy and I'm not allowed to drive. (Yeah, right. We'll see about that.)
Hopefully, I'll get to feeling better soon and get back to ranting and raving as usual!!!!
I feel older than dirt today so here's a fave anthem on aging for a giggle!!!!!
Happy Blogging!!!!!
Kay
Oh no! I am glad that you are home...hopefully blogging is not on the "do not" list! The tulips sound wonderful. Take care. Follow the rules! We want to keep you around here a lot longer.
ReplyDeleteWell, the good thing is you no longer are waiting for your surgery. ;)
ReplyDeleteTake it easy get but well as soon as you can without pushing it, girl!
I hope you will follow the doctor's orders and help your body heal. Lots of good wishes that soon you'll be feeling tip top again.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. Hope you're back and at it very soon. And yup, no driving until they say so! Take care and consider yourself hugged.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh...what a rollercoaster ride for you. So glad that you avoided the nursing home thing...very depressing to say the least! I had wondered how that eye problem had resolved itself. Feel better!!
ReplyDeleteWell, that 'splains a lot. Welcome back, rest up, go get 'em next week! Glad all went well.
ReplyDeleteWow! Glad to hear that you pulled through all of that. So now, yes, rest, eat lots of veggies and apples, drink lots of water. Can you download books free from your library??? Sit in the sun and read and get better soon.
ReplyDeleteKay, I'm so sad that I've missed so much in the last month or so---can't imagine you changed your politics while I wasn't looking though.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've had such a hard time, but glad your surgery is behind you. Now, you can concentrate on healing.
ReplyDeleteWell, Ollie, you sure got yourself in a hell of a mess this time. But glad it all turn out well for you.. just be good and do what the dr. says, it will go fast for you... So keep on mending..
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't have to go to the nursing home and that you have people you can count on, Kay. Please take good care of yourself. How wonderful that your ex is being such a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteYour eye just decided to signal you that you had fretted over having the surgery for long enough. Good for you that it's all over but the healing, now. If you were a canine, I could pun by saying, "Heal!" Since you are certainly not, I'm just sending hugs and best wishes for your rapid recovery.

Oh my. Glad you have helpers and friends nearby. Be careful and get well soon.
ReplyDeleteI knew you were scheduled for surgery so I had been wondering when exactly and how your were doing. Glad you are back home with the help you need. Take it easy and recover rapidly.
ReplyDeleteBummer. My brother in law just had neck surgery and is not feeling all that great right now. Well, hi-ho isn't it fun to be getting on.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you resisted being stuck in a nursing home.
Love and kisses,
Marianna
BTW I loved that song.
In the sense that you knew you had to have the surgery anyhow, it's good that it happened this way and is over sooner. Darn lucky I say. Now, as hard as it may be, listen to the doctor. It's best to err on the side of caution. You've seen how people come when they're needed. Sometimes you just have to trust and ask for help. Hope everything goes well! I'm thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteTake care, my friend, and don't overdo. I am sending you all the good thoughts of the moment and hope that your recovery is speedy.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home......just do what the doc says. We care a lot. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful the surgery is done and over with! Praying for a full and uneventful recovery.
ReplyDeleteNow get off your butt and make us laugh!
;-)

Sending you big healing hugs Kay. We just never know when we'll get hit with something out of the blue, do we? I'm glad your surgery is over and that you are on the mend....rest well sweetie...and don't overdo. and yes...listen to your doctor.
ReplyDeletehey, feel better, kid! strict low cholesterol diet, huh? jaysus...no butter? no fence fries? holding y'all in the light....
ReplyDeleteKay, hope everything gets better by leaps & bounds and that "health & wellness" becomes one of those tags you never need to use.
ReplyDeleteCould have sworn I left a get well quick comment here a few days ago. Maybe I'm crackin' up after my OSU/NCAA post the end of March.
ReplyDeleteI had to search google to understand what Carotid Artery Disease is. I am so glad you are in good hands. So enjoyed your video. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about you since I read this, but just now made it back here to say I hope you are doing okay. I'm glad you're home and that the surgery is over. If I had surgery I would probably end up in a nursing home because I don't have anyone around that could care for me medically. It's a scary thought. Take care of yourself!!!
ReplyDeleteI had not visited here for a long time and am sorry to hear you underwent surgery but glad to hear that you are getting much better! Had never heard of carotid artery disease until today. Good to know that they caught you on time. Get loads of rest!
