Stuff and Nonsense

I spent the morning and part of the afternoon having a full body scan after getting shot full of dye after suffering  a very stringent fast that lasted since noon yesterday. The whole procedure itself lasted four hours. Needless to say it hasn't been fun.

That said, I did want to get a post up before I take the nap I promised myself and decided that, after this morning's activities, I really didn't want to think too much sooooooo here is some recent wit and wisdom that's landed in my mailbox. Enjoy!!!

Here's an excellent quote from the very wise Helen Keller that stands the test of time all too well.

Y'all should know that I'm a member of The Other 98%  (and my name is on this petition) and here's what these good folks have done recently -- Praise the Lord and Pass the Petitions!

Here's an interesting chart that shows how much  the candidates share their wealth.  I'm not gonna comment -- the numbers say it more eloquently than I can.

Bill Maher says it right as always . . .

And here's our leader with one of my long-time favs -- B.B. King -- at Blues Night at the White House. I think it's nice to have a leader who likes to have fun.

And I love Anne Hathaway's excellent words on gay marriage:

That's it for today!!!!  And if you don't agree with my thoughts on politics and issues -- as someone mentioned yesterday -- and it's okay.  I've reached a point in my life that I don't give a damn if you disagree with me and I don't blog to make everyone happy. I'll be around to visit y'all later!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

  1. It warms my heart to read a blog supporting gay marriage and gay adoption. And if someone doesn't agree with your politics, there are many more like me, who do.

Take care now and after a good dinner, please get lots of rest.

  2. Thank you!!!! I'm an unrepentant liberal as I've said here time and again. I used to find middle ground but it's just become too hard to find it with the Right wingers who seem to be hellbent on taking away our freedoms and choices.

  3. Four hours in that infernal clanking MRI and you came out sane! And then posted all this great stuff. You rule. Have a grat night's sleep.

    1. It wasn't an MRI -- it's done with a CAT scan and an injection of dye.

      Glad you like the stuff!!!

  4. I always agree with your politics. I just don't like thinking about them because I do agree.

I hope you had something to keep you relaxed for that 4 hours. That is way too long. I actually didn't mind the machines that much. It's the injection and dye that scares me. I get afraid it will miss and seep into my arm. Plus, last time they collapsed a vein. Ugh! Anyway, it is done for now. I hope you had a good nice long nap Kay!

    1. I don't like to think about politics either but I feel I have to because there are nefarious forces threatening my very ability to exist these days. The dye scares me too, but I'm lucky -- I have good strong, easy to find veins.

  5. There are so many terrific things you put on this post. I did love seeing the President sing... again. It's great to see that he gives the most. But Newt and Rick are that far down? That is so very telling. And yae for Anne Hathaway! I hope everything turns out normal and good and perfect on your full body scan.

    1. Awwwwwwwww thanks, Kay!! I get a lot of newsletters and they usually have something worth sharing. And yeah, I like Obama singing, too! And seeing Mick rocking a long was a hoot! The numbers didn't surprise me -- Obama doesn't talk the talk -- he acts and therein lies the difference. I've always enjoyed Anne Hathaway's acting and now I respect her as a person. As to the tests, watch this space -- I see the Dr. Dave next week.

  6. Wow four hours for a CAT scan. After having one done on my lungs I would presume that the actual scan time would be considerably less than the 4 hours. No bad after effcts from the dye I hope.

    1. Yup, a lot of time waiting. It really a no brainer. The hard part was the long and strict fast. When they called to tell me the rules, I said, "Are you nuts?" but I did it anyway and that prolly helped. Nothing makes me hungrier than telling me I can't eat.

  7. My cats scan me all the time for hours on end. I feel better when they stop. Oh, wait, different scan. Never mind.

I like your politics, but it is unfortunate that it has become so "us versus them". We are all being beaten down by varying degrees.

    1. That kind of cat scan is fun!!!! Re: politics, I agree. I remember kinder, more civilized campaigns. Some of the stuff goes beyond the bounds of decency, e.g., the stupid, intrusive law that targets women in Virginia.

  8. That was some loooong CAT scan Kay....exhausting huh? My good friend in Arkansas just had an MRI and a full body CAT scan yesterday too. Who likes that stuff? We all have to tolerate it at some time. Hope everything is good there. I'm always so relieved to have that stuff over with.

Love our singing President...he's pretty darn good.

Got that snow overnight....not much going on now though. Wet and slushy, but the plows have made their rounds....yea! Have a good weekend sweet friend.... ~Joy

Obama rocks when he sings! Looks like we're gonna get some white stuff, too.

  9. Kay, you are unstoppable: all this posting BEFORE a nap. Only part of your politics that intimidates me is your energy!

  12. Hey, Kay, get some rest and relaxation. I don't much like politics either but consider following the insanity a matter of self preservation. And yeah, that snow has arrived and been going all day. Luckily not much of it is sticking. Thankfully, we don't have to go out in it.

  13. Loved your charity chart! Cynic that I am, and not to denigrate his religious affiliation, I can't help wondering how much of Romney's contributions was actually went to church-mandated tithes. I think the chart speaks eloquently, too! And you do find the most interesting stuff. Hope to hear good news about your tests soon. I've been through one or two (or three and more) myself, and they aren't a lot of fun!!!!

    1. I thought it worth sharing and I'm betting 10% of Mitt's went his church. No tests aren't fun but if they figure out what caused the thing with my eye and can fix it, it's worth it.

Sometimes, you and I agree (politically); sometimes, we don't. Disagreement would be no reason to give up our friendship. I know that you agree with that statement because you have, on occasion, forgiven me my clumsy, oafish wording.
Glad you made it through the scans. I, too, hope you got your nap.

    1. Yes we do but we do so with respect and we're grown up enough to be respectful of each other opinions with out being offensive. The nap was not optional -- it left me no choice. LOL

    1. The stuff had all been accumulated and flagged in my 'In' box from several of the newsletters I receive via email so all I had to do was upload and add a lil' commentary. It was almost a no-brainer. I'm trying to get more organized -- so far; so good!!! I love the Helen Keller quote, too -- the more things change, the more they stay the same. Sigh.

  18. The president is still the option of choice among thinking people in this country. The fear I have is, are there enough thinking people in this country?

  22. Awwwwww thank, Naomi!!! As I told Dick, I've been trying to be more efficient and it didn't take much work. Amazing what organization can do for a gal!!!!

  23. I can't imagine being able to write one sentence after going through all that. Obviously you had plenty of time to think, however! ;) All the better for us. A great post.

Being diabetic, fasting is the part that about kills me, which is why I refuse to have a photo shoot up my rear end. But, as it so happens, I am very allergic to the Iodine used in most of the dyes (causes hives and can lead to heart attack). Obviously, you don't have that problem which is a very good thing.

    1. I was determined and I had it organized pretty much before I left. And yeah, most of the four hours of the test, I could just lie there and think so that helped. I just hate fasting -- nothing makes me hungrier than telling me I can't eat! I'm the girl who forgers to eat. I hope you have a medic alert bracelet/necklace -- that's scary!!!
