Worn Out

I've spent the past two days trying mightily to get caught up with y'all!!! If I missed you, I apologize -- it was a sin of omission with no ill intent. I'd promise to do better in the future but we all know that a body does get sidetracked now and again.

* I watched SOTU last night and pretty much liked what I heard. However when the cameras cut to members of the GOP, it was abundantly obvious that they have no intention whatsoever of cooperating with their 'friends across the aisle'. I am so very tired of this you-know-what. And all it comes down to that Obama is black and we'll still be hearing all the other birther, racist crapola that the GOP regurgitates so incessantly. There. I said it. Sue me.

* Here's D.L. Hughley again talking about his dad the janitor and lots of other silliness with Lawrence O'Donnell. D.L. really impresses me. He has common sense and tells the truth.

* Cis over at From a Simple Mind sent this gem where you can calculate how long Mitt has to earn what you do. He only has to work 3 hours 54 minutes to match my income. Sigh.

Okay, I'm depressed enough now. I'm gonna go watch a movie and cry.

Hope y'all have a great day!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

  1. Cantor's face was pure hatred, as he looked at Obama. And, Boehner looked like he just swallowed a persimmon whole. I agree, they don't intent to cooperate. But, it may backfire on them, I hope.

    1. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeee, too! I'm so ashamed of these idiots. And what bothers me is that nobody within their party has the cojones to stand up to them. It's downright crazy.

  2. I thought Boehner looked ridiculous. Can't the guy smile? Thanks for the poem! I'd never heard it before and I loved it.

    1. Boehner is an embarrassment to the great State of Ohio. The rheumy-eyed drunk needs to be out of office.

That was the just the last stanza, Marty! My dad could recite the whole thing. Then again he could recite reams of poetry and Shakespeare. I inherited his gift. I can't recall what I did last week but I can still recite The Gettysburg Address! and Marc Antony's funeral oration from "Julius Caesar!!! LOL

  3. I loved the State of the Union! I thought it was great. It just turned my stomach to see Boehner in the back showing us how Republicans are wanting to ruin this country with their own selfishness. Their only agenda is to unseat Obama and be back in power to truly demolish this country again and create a bigger divide between the rich and poor. There are very little middle class anymore. Their comfort went to the rich.

    1. I did, too, Kay!!!! Eric Cantor was equally contemptuous. I thought Joe Biden wanted to smack Boehner upside the head. And you got the part about their agenda right. Hell! I got booted from the middle class long ago. Sigh.

  4. I think that most of the country is sick of the Republican's do-nothing and block everything program - including a lot of Republicans. I also think Obama is smart to keep calling for bipartisanship. He knows damn well that it ain't going to happen and that it just makes the Congressional Republicans look like the obstructionist a-holes they are.

    1. What scares me are his tendency to go for compromise with them when he shouldn't. I'm afraid he'll compromise my Social Security and I can't afford that. As it is, I'm stretched too thin and I know you don't have an easy road either. And anyone with less than a million in the bank supports the GOP is is their own worst enemy. Romney's dad was a pretty good governor in Michigan -- a long-time Democratic, Union state -- and obviously Mitt didn't learn a damned thing from him.

  5. It would be pretty hard for anybody to sue you for telling the truth. And you just told it.

    1. Thanks, Dick!!! I try hard and try to avoid too much rhetoric 'cause since I don't like it from either party. My last suitor was forever sending me emails assailing DemoCRATs and the usual GOP mantras and despite my caring about him, it finally hit me that such disrespect was no longer worthy of my attention or affection. And since I only seem to attract Republicans, I will no longer even consider a relationship.

  6. Couldn't say it better, Kay. I don't remember when I saw so many sour-pusses in one place at the same time. Even the few times the applauded it was tepid and half-hearted. I wish so much of Obama's program depends on those (expletive, expletive) idiots.

    Keep rested, girl.

  8. Thank you for coming over and commenting in spite of your foul mood due to the precarious state of the US political scene. We get a bit of it over here but not a lot. Our conservative government treads very carefully; after all, they keep going on about the special relationship the US and UK have. Can't offend anyone.I get most of my info from bloggers like you. Please don't cry and if you must cry, please cry while you're blogging; where else should i come for updates.

I just checked your followers list, I am still there but you have disappeared from my followers in the sidebar. Weird. Do you think somebody is trying to keep me away from you?

Would you mind having another try at following to see what happens?

No, I am not really a conspiracy theorist, but this IS strange.

  9. I try to visit all the blogs that I follow daily but sometimes life intrudes. I know that you're still on my list because your new posts appear on my dashboard but I'll double check, okay? God knows that Blogger gets weird -- like everything else in my life.
    Sigh.

Kay--I recall that the Republicans picked on President Clinton and the Democrats picked on President Bush. I doubt that race has much, if anything, to do with the Republicans' picking on President Obama.
It really pains me to see anyone disrespected in the name-calling. During my professional years, I worked with people whom I absolutely detested. But...I worked with them by focusing on the job - not by calling them names. In some cases, I made much progress by treating them like my best friend on earth. (I doubt that, to this day, they realize how I felt about them personally.)
I long for a brighter day - when people can treat one another with respect and work on the issues. People may never agree with one another on everything; but, they can work together if we focus more on working than on throwing gasoline on raging flames.

P.S. Yes, dear friends, I know that I join in the dissing at times - for which I profoundly apologize to all.

    1. I didn't call them names -- I attack their nasty rhetoric. And if you haven't noticed the GOP haven't done a damned thing that even resembles working together. If they cut Medicare and Social Security, I might as well commit suicide.

  11. I try to make it as easy as I can for you by writing less and less frequently...I'm at the point I'd rather read yours and the comments too. What's the poem mentioned at the top? I couldn't find any poem in this post.

P.S. I hope that you got the bitterness/disappointment all cried out of your system. Isn't a wonder how the chemicals can be flushed out of our brains that way?

Kay--I'm sorry. My original comment in this string was poorly constructed. My thoughts came to mind as the result of having lived through the past few years, then reading the posting and comments to it.
That said, I would not wish to discourage anyone from expressing the anger they feel. You certainly have reason and a right to feel anger.
My real problem is: I am really tired of hearing people who represent the two major parties engage in cat fighting as they've been doing (since the 1940s that I remember!) Perhaps this would have been one instance in which I should have stifled my own discomfort, eh?
Again, I apologize for not painting a clearer picture of what I meant.
    Hugs to you!
