Just a Quick Note on Iowa

I was appalled at the outcome of the Iowa Caucuses. Ron Paul's love of the Constitution and strong anti-war stance is interesting until he starts going of the deep end. Mitt Romney believes that corporations are people and flip flops on everything else. Rick (don't google my last name) Santorum comes across as a moralist until you see the nasty stuff he's been involved in before his district in Pennsylvania kicked his lying, hypocritical, amoral asker out (check out Rachel here). God must have loved hypocrites -- he made so many of them.

Here's a two minute video with Keith Olberman and Tim Dickinson of Rolling Stone making sense:

  4. Couldn't agree with you more. What is particularly bothersome though, is why so many people take what people say NOW as gospel. Nevermind what you did before, or even what you said last week! Never mind that there is no depth to your thinking or even to your morals!

    I can't understand it.

Kay--Personally, I think that most of us qualify as hypocrits on one subject or another, to some degree. I have my own issues, unfortunately, or I couldn't possibly believe that others might, now could I?

P.S. That doesn't mean that I wish our politicians to be highly hypocritical - just that expecting them to be not-at-all hypocritical is setting the bar unrealistically high, IMHO.

  6. Oh, yeah!! What a wonderful choice we have with most of the Repthuglicans: moralistic Christianists of one stripe or another who make the Islamic Brotherhood and Iranian Ayatollahs look religiously tolerant, or political opportunists well versed in hypocrisy, or the combination of the two.

  7. You hit every one of them right on the head, Kay. Exactly how I feel--Ron Paul, except for his "going off the deep end" makes more sense than the others. Good line re hypocrits! I have to remember that!

  8. Wild: LOL A nation of Mitt Romneys?

CC: Yes, we all do although I can't think of one. I can't be bothered to take on a whole race/religion/ethnic group/political party/ad infinite. Is stupidity a bias? Color me guilty.

    Mary: Indeed!!!!

Alice: My dad -- raised Methodist -- used to say he didn't go to church because it was full of hypocrites and smart-a**ed me said, "Yeah and we don't need another one." Daddy was quite upset over that. He got religion back before he died -- funny how that works.

  10. Oh, Kay, I am burned out on all politics. How confused can they get. Pfffft...to them.

RYN: I do have partial neuropathy. I do understand. Come-on over and we will both go jump in the warm tub for 15 minutes. :)

  11. I went back and read some of your groaners – I needed that after watching part of the New Hampshire debate. The new year is young and it is discouraging to think about all the political talks coming up.

  12. I wonder of the over-exposure of these guys by having the seemingly endless debates is going to be a serious problem for the GOP when a candidate finally is selected.

Voters who are interested are finding out everything about this pack of politicians, and most of it ain't good.
