A Couple Notes

It's another day in paradise and a couple things caught my attention while I was thinking about a post for today.

* I thought my post on Tuesday was rather innocuous as far as politics go -- I didn't raise hell or place blame but just asked that those folks in D.C. get their act together and do something. I didn't think it would trigger a nasty response from a conservative sort who wanted to air his agenda here (which I did not allow). Then today Andrew Sullivan, who I admire greatly, posted this excellent quote at The Daily Dish that pretty much says what I was getting at in Tuesday's post only better as one would expect from the writer.

"Much indeed to be regretted, party disputes are now carried to such a length, and truth is so enveloped in mist and false representation, that it is extremely difficult to know through what channel to seek it. This difficulty to one, who is of no party, and whose sole wish is to pursue with undeviating steps a path which would lead this country to respectability, wealth, and happiness, is exceedingly to be lamented. But such, for wise purposes, it is presumed, is the turbulence of human passions in party disputes, when victory more than truth is the palm contended for," - George Washington, in a letter to Timothy Pickering, July 27, 1795.

* I loved all your great comments on yesterday's 'Sisters' post but I think Joy said it best: "One big happy family....that's how I like it, Kay. We're just a hoot!" We are a hoot and I love y'all madly!!!! Thanks so much for your love and support! Here's a video that I think works for us!!!!

* I visited my fine friend from Texas, Cowtown Pattie, tonight and my blood pressure went ballistic. Run -- don't walk -- over there to read what she's written so well. I've included the link to sign the petition and I've included the video below. The world as we know it is going to hell! I'm not worried about me -- I'm old. I'm worried about my grandchildren.

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!

Kay

  1. The ugliness coming from the right has me not reading their words as soon as I see them start in trashing Obama by personality and insinuations that he's not from this country etc etc. These same people said how we must respect our president in war right up until they decided we don't need to do that. I have had it with that type also and won't let such 'advertising' into my blog. They can post it in their own where those who think like they do will relish it. They feed off of each other. Lots of luck with that.

Opposing ideas about issues, actual facts are still welcome in my blog (and some right wing people can stick to those) but I don't need the ugly, angry smear campaign filled with fear talk which is so rampant in emails and some right wing blogs to come into something for which I am responsible. I wouldn't let such trash talk into my living room either.

  4. I no longer watch TV. I no longer read books etc that I thought gave me unbiased information to help me be an informed voter. What good does it do? My vote counts for nothing. I voted for change and the American people blocked my vote so here I sit. What can I do? I'll continue to vote but have no hope I'll ever see the changes I desire for our country in my lifetime.

ah, gloom and doom? That's been around for centuries! Nothing new. In the end, it will all pan out. The world won't end, I promise!

  6. We ARE family! I love that song and the video :)

I voted for Obama, I believe in Obama and I stand behind Obama. I knew he would have a hard time of it and I knew he would be lucky to get even one thing that he wanted done. Washington D.C. is a country of its own and it would make the public's skin crawl if they found out 1/8th of what is going on.

My generation will not revolt but there will be a future generation that will. We did not take it from England and we won't take it from our own. I love this country, my roots go deep but it hurts to see what our forefathers started go to heck in a hand basket.

I Love "We Are Family". Too bad it doesn't spill into the right wing zealots who ONLY think of themselves....Help!
