Another Kaleidoscope Day

Today was a reasonably productive, varied day. I actually ate somewhat decently and accomplished some tasks that have been languishing. Unfortunately, it was but a small dent in the general disorder I call home. And I still don't have my library/office organized. However, there is a big bag to be trundled to Goodwill which means a closet is less crowded until I fill it again. The upshot is I'm exhausted so this will be short.

I went shopping this afternoon and picked up a few supplies and bought a couple bunches of tulips and a bunch of mums (cheap!) and filled a couple vases. I like fresh flowers in the house. They make me happy and I think the house feels happy, too. If I wait for someone to send me flowers, it will be a cold day in hell before I get them.

Thanks to y'all who said I deserve this jewelry that Alex gave me. You are kind. I didn't do anything special -- it's just what I think friends should do. However, some of the jewelry is far too grand (read: expensive) for the likes of me. I tend to lose good jewelry so I tend to prefer good costume jewelry except for earrings. For the latter it's strictly 14K gold because my ears get infected otherwise. If I lose one of those, it puts me crazy so I can imagine how I'd feel if I lost any of Bridget's jewelry. I went through some of it tonight and found a couple vintage pieces that I like and will keep but so far, most will go back to Alex.

Tonight I watched the NBA playoffs along with the rest of Northeast Ohio as LeBron James scored 34 points to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to victory over the Atlanta Hawks, 99-72. LeBron is a native of Akron just north of me and so everyone is proud of him. His work with children and his many contriibutions to local charities has earned our respect. I have a soft spot for celebrities and athletes who don't forget where they were raised and share their success. LeBron does this well as well as being one of the most amazing basketball players I've ever seen. And this evening before the game, the NBA named him their MVP. It's been a longggggggg, longgggggg time since we had an MVP in any pro sport here in NE Ohio. The last one was Brian Sipe, quarterback of the Browns, in 1980, so tonight was special in our area of Ohio which has been decimated by the economic crisis. It's nice to have something to cheer about here. All I can say to LeBron and the rest of the Cavs is: keep it up and bring home the Championship -- we want to smile some more.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get some more work done here and check to see what Alex needs for help and will stop over to see what I can do. Beyond that, I'm brain dead so I'm tottering off to bed. Hope y'all are well and happy!!!
