A Touch of Nostalgia . . .

I've been waxing nostalgic of late and I'm not certain why but my lost youth has been very much with me and I'm recalling roads not taken. I am a member of the infamous Class of '65 and Cass Elliott of The Mamas and the Papas was probably my favorite female rock vocalist at that point in my life. One of my favorites was her wonderful rendition of "Dream a Little Dream of Me" and here she is with Dick Smothers . . .

And here's a retrospective on "The Mamas and the Papas" -- and I agree with Michelle that Cass Elliott left us too soon.

Thanks for letting me share these with you!!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Just catchin' up with blogs a bit. Sounds like you've been goin' thru the mill. You're entitled to a little nostalgia and Mama Cass' music is a good respite for you. I get kinda angry thinking about some of the entertainers who died young needlessly or for reasons that seem so senseless. Hang in there!

  3. Every New Year's Eve I sing Cass Elliott's hopeful "There's a New World Coming":

    "There's a new world coming
And it's just around the band,
    there's a new world coming
This one's coming to an end"

  5. I can relate. The reminiscence of both the roads taken and the roads not; for the dreams, whether they were foolish or wise, half baked or well founded, outlandish or down to earth, achieved or not. I have done a lot of that lately

  6. I loved the M&P also....maybe we had something back then...the sixties! So many were gone to soon!

  7. I always like Mama Cass --- when we moved from Utah to California my daughter and I had a beat up old tape that included California Dreaming that we played over and over as we drove (I'd forgotten about that until I read your post).

I also loved There's a New World Coming (and the Obama campaign used that as a "warm up act" during the primaries)

  11. Mama Cass was the best. Valentine's Day always makes me nostalgic about old songs and old boyfriends. I wonder if they ever think of me? This Valentine's marks 40 years with the same Valentine, but even so, I remember them.
