Today's the day!!!!!!!!! Gooooooooo Bucks!!!!!!!

The Buckeye candy's in the fridge. The coney sauce is in the crock pot. The beer is on ice. The buffet is organized awaiting the rest of the food and beverages. Uh-huh. Dunno why but the party's at my place and I don't even have a big screen TV!!! (I think my perverse friends like me to have to clean house) Soooooo . . . I guess I'm ready.

Today at noon The Ohio State University Buckeyes will meet the University of Michigan Wolverines. The Buckeyes are the favorite by 19-24 points according to the bookies and the pundits but anyone who has followed this rivalry for as may years as I have knows that all that goes out the window when these two teams meet!!!! I don't know about y'all but I'd rather cheer for a bunch of nuts than a pack of predators! Just my rather biased take.

Then again, I am a born and bred Buckeye whose family was in Ohio before it was a state. (The joke is that we were in Ohio when there was just us and the Indians! That's stretching it because the Moravians were here before we were.)

At any rate, here's the Ohio State Band as they accompany Coach Bill Tressel and the team as they sing "Carmen Ohio" earlier this season after their win against Minnesota. I've included the lyrics for the uninitiated. Let's hope the outcome is the same today! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Carmen Ohio"
(Alma Mater)

Oh come let's sing Ohio's praise
And songs to Alma Mater raise
While our hearts rebounding thrill
With joy which death alone can still
Summer's heat or winter's cold
The seasons pass the years will roll
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... O-HI-O!

Gooooooooooooooo Buckeyes!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. What's the score? Oh, the game hasn't started yet? Hope you're having a celebratory party rather than the other type, but it's a gamble with these two teams.

  2. Go Buckeyes!!! I guess I should become a Buckeye fan because my mother's family were in Ohio before the Civil War. Two of my great-grandfathers were in the Ohio Regiment during that war. So I will root for them.
