Sounds like you have a real handle on all this which is really good.
I went back to university 36 yrs ago to train. We studied the stroke info which was out there in the old, and the current literature of the day, but not enough attention was being paid by too many medical personnel, and lay people were not made as aware -- a frustration for those in my field. Stories like yours wake people up to ask necessary questions of themselves and others.
A lot of education needed then and even now in some areas. That's one reason why I think it's so important for me to be a partner with my doctor(s)in my care. I think most people are these days (may have had to become so given our health care system now.)
Plus, we are incredibly fortunate to have the ready availability of Internet health information and the benefit of reading real life experiences of bloggers like you, Kay, who share your experience and from whom we can learn.
