Sure and Begorra! It's Saint Patrick's Day!

Saint Patrick's Day and I am missing Jeff. He is my favorite companion on this day and we have celebrated long and well now and again over the years. His sainted mother, The Fair Brigid who was born in Ireland, rolled her eyes at our antics with a twinkle in her eyes and she and Big Alex joined often joined us for a wee jar when they were younger.

That said, I was going to don my green and join my fellow sons and daughters of Hibernia for the Saint Patrick's Day Stroll and corned beef and cabbage and a green beer afterward but with my dental problems, I'll just stay h0me. Sigh.

It isn't St. Patrick's Day without my favorite Irish group: Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers so here's one my favorite songs from them. (Jeff and I were known to sing it loud and off key after a couple wee jars in our misspent youth.) Tommy and Liam -- God be good to them -- are no longer with us but I'm glad YouTube keeps their spirit and gifts alive.

Here's a song that features Tommy and I've always enjoyed.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Blogging!!!!!!

Interesting to hear Irish music, so different from Hawaiian music. Even Irish dancing is different from Hawaiian hula!

    Enjoy the day, Kay!

  4. Happy St. Patrick's Day! May those that love us, love us. And those that don't love us, may God turn their hearts. But, if He doesn't turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, so we will know them by their limping. ~Irish Blessing

  5. Hey, and a happy St. Paddies day to you too. Have a green something for me. G and I are failures to celebrate these days with booze, but our friends can for us. Hugs...............from the lady with the Irish name out here.

  8. I sure do love the Irish, too! Coming from Chicago, we were all Irish on St. Paddy's Day! Even though we're now in Hawaii, we wore our green and had our corned beef and cabbage. Yummm!

  10. I mentioned, didn't I, that my grandfather was a Donahue! I guess they dropped the "O." He was a hell of a fellow, all right. My Donahue uncles were something else too: in spite of being half Mexican they looked (and acted) mostly Irish! My aunts pulled the Mexican side for looks but were very bold, like Irish girls.
I'm really sorry you couldn't get out to celebrate, Kay. Maybe next year.

  11. Happy St. Patrick's a day late, Kay. I'm sorry you feel inhibited from going out because of your teeth. I'm sure I'd be the same way, but I have to tell you about Sandy who goes to church where I do. She's in her mid 60s and is having some major dental problems so four of her front teeth have been pulled for several weeks. She is having trouble healing so hasn't been able to get bridges and/or implants yet. She is simply carrying on as usual. I asked her if it embarrassed her at all and she said no. I admire her chutzpah. Confidence even with teeth et al has always been a problem for me so I can identify with wanting to stay home bound.
