Today's post is on a happier note! This afternoon my beloved little brother, First Sergeant Mike, and the 762nd Transportation Company are returning from a year in Iraq. And the families and friends are gathering to welcome them home. Our family will be well-represented as Karen and I have been burning up the phone lines to make sure that everything is in order and we do Mike proud.
I took the picture above last summer when he was home on R&R. He's with his best girls: his wonderful wife and his beautiful grandaughters!!!!! Mike has always has liked babies. He was about 12 when my children were born and delighted in them and they in him.
There will be a gathering of the families to honor Mike and his company at a local middle school. In addition to Karen and I, her sister, her daughter and the girls and my nephew will be there. I had mentioned to my ex-husband that Mike was coming home and he asked if he could come. I said yes so he'll be there, too. Mike told Karen no party at the house afterwards -- he just wants to rest and then he and Karen are going to take a trip. I can't say I blame him and I told Karen we can party later whenever he's ready.
At any rate, it's going to be a great day!!!!!
Happy Blogging!!!!!!
Kay
Enjoy your wonderful reunion!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you have something good in your life now after having your health and financial problems. It's the occasional nice things that help me get through the tough times.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Welcome home to Mike and all his comrades. Thanks to all of them from all of us. May not approve of the war but appreciate those who serve.
ReplyDeleteKay, I am happy you have something to celebrate and hope that you have many reasons to smile for days to come.

I'm glad you're having a better day today. Thanks to your brother for his service to his country.
ReplyDeleteColleen: Thank you!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLucy: All the crap is still very much with me -- that doesn't go away.
Annie: Congratulations???
Genie: Thank you!!! I can't smile in public! And I don't like the war but I do support our troops.
Linda: Thank you!!!!!! It was better until I opened the mail.
When you said they were his grandchildren, I was taken aback cause he looks too young to be a grandfather. Then I realized that your brother must be close to your age as you are siblings.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that he is coming home safe and sound.
Gigi: Mike was born when I was 15 years old -- he is 47. I joke that he was my first baby because his pediatrician joked, "The only thing wrong with this kid is that he has too many mothers." Actually our girls are his step-grandchildren but Shannon says he's their grandpa and and her dad. And I am Auntie Kay. It's been a great blending of families.
ReplyDeleteGreat day indeed Kay. Welcome home Mike! What a wonderful celebration that will be. You deserve to have something cheerful happen in your life with all the hassles you've been going through lately. Enjoy every minute of it with your brother and family sweetie. ~Joy
