Golly Gee Whiz -- It's an Update -- Finally!!!

I've been on overload. Obama is keeping me busy as are assorted other obligations. It's been incredibly hot here in Ohio which is not a good thing for me. I get through it by reminding myself of February in Ohio I don't have AC but I have ceiling fans that give decent relief. Not much has been too exciting.

Saturday night our team's "hostess with the mostest" hosted a birthday party for Obama at her lovely home in the historic district (where I'd love to live). It was a lot of fun and I had the pleasure meeting a lot of really great people from the campaign -- including coming across one of my high school teachers and his lovely wife. What really impressed me was the level of dedication I saw. I am honored to be working with these people. John -- my team leader -- asked when I wanted to help this week. I waffled for a moment and said, "Oh hell!!!! Put me down for every thing -- I have no life!" Everyone laughed and shouted, "Atta girl!"

Today, I haven't a lot on my plate so I'm taking time to blog and do some visiting y'all before I go to HQ -- barring interruptions, of course.

Here's some stuff that landed in my email recently . . .

* Here's a graph that pretty much tells you a lot about the candidates in the Election . . .

* Romney bumper sticker . . .

* And here are two patriotic Americans (standing ovation here) weighing in honestly and responsibly on taxes and it well worth three minutes of your time . . .

* Last week was the Ohio Democratic Party held it's convention and my favorite Congresswoman gave an awesome speech asking us to to support the "Seven Sisters", i.e., the seven awesome Ohio women who are running for Congress here in the Buckeye State! Here it is . . .

* Mittens can't escape his history . . .

* Yeah, the GOP claims to support our troops but this vet tells a different story quite creatively . . .

* A bit of wisdom/food for thought from Mark Twain . . .

And here's an appropriate funny/advice for all you cat lovers out there . . .

Have a great day!!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

  1. Good clips, esp. Warren Buffett on the tax rate when he says, "You'd be amazed at how flat it is already."

    He's wrong about one thing though -- the payroll tax doesn't cover the first 80 or 90 thousand; it covers the first $110,000. Obviously, for him it doesn't make any difference. Actually . . . for me it doesn't make any difference either, but (unfortunately) for a different reason!

  2. I keep hearing the Republicans in Ohio are trying to suppress the vote. I hope they don't succeed. It's important to be sure everyone who needs ID in order to vote has one. Too many states are attempting this.

    1. My life is on the line as that of a lot of other elders -- this campaign is running on kids and grannies and grandpas. I find that pretty amazing

      As to AC, it usually doesn't bother me but this summer has been awful,

    1. It's self preservation!!! I just am an old lady who will die if they mess with my Medicare and Social Security so I'm giving my spare times which is abundant to go down to HQ and enter data!
      The people I'm working with are terrific and dedicated and there are lots of old guys & gals!!!
      Heck a teacher from high school and his wife -- both in their 80s -- are doing what they can! I hope I'm alive and that healthy for 2032 but I kinda doubt it!!!!

      We hardly see the movers and shakers unless the press shows up.

  11. Hi Kay! Just returned from Fla and feel like I've been back in the 1950s. Glad to see you're still going strong. Kudos! BTW, is it true that fancy horse cures MS (as it did Ann Romney)? Have they announced a cure that I missed somehow?

  12. All you are doing sounds great. From what I read Ohio will be a key state; so good work. I read that Obama is using some of what is being donated to get the vote out. Good for him as this is a big deal with Republicans wanting to win dishonestly. Like what else is new!

    1. Thanks!!!!! I'm having a great time with it -- the volunteers range from teens to octogenarians -- and all are well informed, enthusiastic, and determined and it's awesome. Ohio is perennially purple -- i.e., we're pretty evenly divided. And a lot of us are independents. I used to be one but since the GOP got on what Bill Maher calls "the short bus to crazy town", I am a Democrat.

  15. I loved your last groaner – I am in awe at the imagination it takes to write a good groaner. It is a breath of fresh air to come to your blog – here where we live, in Newt Gingrich county in Georgia, we only hear great arguments about Mittens. I like the bumper stickers but if I placed one on my car – who knows in what ditch I would end up? Been there, done that.

  16. Signed on with "Feminists for Obama" then had to join Facebook to find out what/if they're up to trouble where I live. Thanks for keeping on keeping on and here's to cooler days in your neighborhood.

  20. Enjoyed your postings here -- some real gems. Glad you're able to do so much in this election with Ohio being one of the critical states since lots on the line for all of us,

    Am amazed you've had 100 degree temps -- don't ever recall Ohio weather that hot. Glad you're surviving and have the fans going to keep cool. Be sure to drink lots and lots of water -- as we get older dehydration comes on much more readily that we realize sometimes -- we may not be as likely to actually feel thirsty as I've discovered. We Buckeyes are a hardy lot and you're a prime example.
