A Bit of Silliness . . . (but I think it's food for thought!)

Note:  If y'all haven't been there already, please stop by TGB and read
Ronni's excellent post on what is being done to/in our country.

I'm still buried with my book project (it's no longer a project -- it's become a mission) but I'm trying to keep up with y'all as well as the antics occurring in the world so I'm indulging in some silliness in the interest of maintaining a wee modicum of sanity in a world that's gone mad.

Kent McKamy, whose emails help me maintain a modicum of sanity, sent along an excellent and funny piece that he received that not only made me laugh, but gave me food for thought.  He talked about collective nouns -- you know:  a gaggle of geese, a flock of sheep, a  school of fish, and my favorite: an exaltation of larks.  However, he included one that I really think is pertinent to today's political climate:  a congress of  baboons  and that, my friends, set me a-thinkin'. And henceforth, I shall refer to Speaker of the House, John Boehner, as the Chief Baboon.

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!

Kay

  6. Naomi: I knew you would love it. Sometimes we need to laugh -- if only to keep from crying.

CC: Kent is a blogger and a real-time friend of Ronni. He just doesn't blog much these days and passes on groaners, etc. to me a lot! We share a connection from his prep school days.

  10. As a member of the National Humane Society and the SPCA I am appalled that you would even use the name Boehner in connection with such upstanding animals as the Baboon.

As to congress, I suggest A Buffoon of Congress is more appropo.

    Loved the piece!!!!!!

  11. Kay, thank you so much for the link to Ronni's post with the Mike Lofgren article. He's written the best summary of the madness of the last 30 years that I have yet to see. Like you, I am terrified, although not yet checking out the Hemlock Society. More along the lines of liquidating and emigrating and starting again...
But not without a fight! Keep on trucking, girl...
