A Couple Notes . . .

I am not well. Why? I'm not sure. I think it's seasonal depressive disorder which I tend to get this time of year. I also I think it's the dreadful political climate and the Tucson tragedy. Oh well, I'll be all right. I always land on my feet in time. One of my friends thinks I need to start dating again and I defied her to find an unmarried man over sixty who doesn't listen to Rush Limbaugh. She could only come up with one -- and I'm not doing that again. Sheesh!!!

I really liked Andrew Sullivan's piece today on his blog. I like Sullivan -- he quit the GOP because if its platform and all the hate and stupidity it espouses. It has video of Sarah Palin reading from a teleprompter (like she criticizes Obama for using) and y'all will see why: because she cannot speak that rationally without one and the words are obviously not her own. It ranks as one of the biggest acts of sheer hypocrisy I've ever seen/heard. Whoever wrote it is obviously as sick as Palin and there is no legitimate defense for her self-serving statements or that she completely ignored Gabrielle Giffords and the others wounded in Tuscon. Sullivan did a great job of decimating Palin.

Here's Chris Matthews decimating the head of the Tea Party. If this idiot is the head of what a lot of Americans are following, I am afraid.

I loved this video that features Bill Maher being serious and comes out strong on what's happened to our country. He makes so much sense I think I'd vote for him.

I hope y'all are getting through these sad times better than I am.

Oh, honey. I feel bad that you are so down. I hope you have some friends nearby who can come over and watch a movie or something to keep you company. You definitely need someone to laugh with a bit.

Please call someone and just talk a little. Thinking of you.

  2. President Obama's speech helped a great deal in bringing a sense of peace and hope back to the country. I was really feeling angry and down, but I'm doing better now. Feel better, Kay.

  3. Kay, it's been a tough week for people with any sensitivity to the human condition, for people who give a damn about their neighbors and their nation. I'm not much of a giver of advice; I just hope that, as alwaysinthebackrow said, you have friends and activities that can sustain you through the difficult days. Hang in there; I'll be thinking of you.

  4. There are just too many reasons to be depressed these days. It's hard to know what's biological/chemical and what's environmental. I take an antidepressant, and it does help.
