Getting Busy

Kay's World is getting busier -- and I can thank (or not) Obama. I went to a training session the other night to learn how to use the data entry program which turned out to be the same one I used two years ago for the Boccieri campaign. Yay! I was surprised when one of the phone bank guys came over and said, "I know you! You were my boss on the _______ campaign!!!" Amazing!!! He was talking about a campaign I co-chaired (read: the guys let me do all the work) over 30 years ago. We had a lot of fun with it and I was astounded that he remembered me.

Last night we attended our monthly First Friday celebration of the arts in search of volunteers. The weather was rainy mostly so turnout wasn't great but we did manage to garner a few recruits to help us. When my two-hour stint was over, I stopped to see my buddy Maria at her excellent Italian restaurant some pasta and a beverage before checking out the galleries. The activity du jour was chalk art on the sidewalks and it was interesting and fun. I was a hermit all winter so there was a lot to see -- and I found myself lusting for some truly lovely stuff. In my next life I'm gonna be rich. My last stop was my friend Lynda's gallery where she had redecorated and added a lot of new artists and collected hugs from her and her husband. The quilt lady (in her 80s) was there and working on some awesome innovative pieces and we caught up on our escapades. Lynda always has a really great oldies band and they, as always, were a delight.

Today I have to get some groceries before I head out to the DCC for yet another training. Sigh. Still, it's getting me out of the house and my shrink will say that's a good thing.

Here's a favorite song from back in the day that the band played last evening. (God!!! Tom Jones is getting old! And obviously, so am I!) Enjoy!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

  9. You are a great volunteer to causes that need more support. I don't know if I will make it to Nov's election cause it already makes me crazy. I'm thinking that we are on the same side of voting scheme. Good to read that you are getting out and doing fun things with friends.

combo of Spring and Fall wrapped in one.. LOTS OF RAIN..AND WAY MORE

  12. You must have made an impression with your efforts those years ago if that guy remembered you. Bet they're glad to have you there to help make a difference now. From all accounts sounds like Ohio is still in limbo and could go either way in Nov. Expect the outside-the-State Super Pacs are pouring the money in to defeat Obama. Good that you can be out and about for some pleasure activities seeing friends 'cause total concentration on this political and govt. situation can be a downer. Weather oughta be pretty good back there this time of year to be out and about -- beats winter's ice and snow -- expect you're making the most of it.
