What Happened to Dancing Cheek to Cheek?

I was writing a post for today and the blog monster irretrievably ate it. Since it's one o'clock in the morning and I need to be at the beauty school at ten, I'm just going to cop out and post a video.

The music du jour was a classic -- one of my favorites with Fred and Ginger. And just remember, when someone tells you that Astaire was the greatest dancer in film, that Ginger did everything he did -- backwards and in high heels!!!!!!!!

Golly gee whiz!!!!! Does anynody dance anymore?

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Gosh, Kay... I haven't seen this in such a long time. I loved seeing this! Thanks for posting it.

  2. I haven't danced much since I got married. In school, I was a dancing fool and if someone had told me I'd marry a man who can't and hates to dance, I would have said never!! But I did.

  3. We do, every year at our "Rat Pack New Year's Eve Party". Can't dance like that in public around here, though... Someone would probably shoot us.

    Great video!

  4. Kay: Thanks!!!!!

Judy: I hear that!!!! I married a man like that, too, and his other qualities weren' exactly sterling either.

Steph: Glad someone is keeping old traditions alive?

  5. When they danced, it was poetry in motion :)

  6. Today's kids miss so much. When we danced cheek to cheek it was really romantic. Now I don't have a clue when I watch the gyrations that pass for dancing. Me for the good old days.

  7. Curious that you ask. My plan is to recapture dancing once we move to the left coast into a retirement community. Hoping it can happen because just like you and other commenters, I'd love to imagine a more mellow stepping about.

  8. Dancing? What's that? It's been so long I wouldn't know what to do. Husband was usually playing, some private parties, and generally musicians didn't bring along their girl friends or wives. He wouldn't have been free to dance anyway, plus when he was, he didn't like to dance. Go figure -- a musician that doesn't like to dance.
