It's the Groaner of the Week!!!

Here it is Monday again and the first of the month to boot which means that mailboxes tend to be crammed with bills and other annoyances! And how do you ease the pain? With a good hearty grooooooaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnn, of course!!!!!!!! I hope this fine gem from my archives will help!

An orchestra is playing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. There is a passage in the middle when, for about 20 minutes, the bass violinists have nothing to do. So they decided to slip out to the bar next door and quaff a few beers. After a while one says, "Hey, we better get going."

But another says, "No, wait. I tied several pages of the conductor's sheet music together, so we'll have a couple of extra minutes while he sorts it out."

So they stay for another round. Finally, they stagger back to their places in the orchestra and . . .

It's the bottom of the ninth, the score is tied, and the bassists are loaded.

Happy Blogging!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Groaner for sure! Whew, I'm glad you reminded me what day this is. I've got to get to my paperwork. We may be retired but will always have bills to pay.

  9. Fran & Toom: Just 'cause it's a groaner it doesn't mean you can't laugh and groan at the same time!

    Good one, Kay.
When I'm reading something all alone I rarely laugh aloud but this did it.
    Thanks.
The Old Professor (who still can't play like Duke Ellington or anyone else for that matter.)

  11. Groooooan. This is almost as groany (is that a word?) as the one about the meat cutter who accidentally backed into the slicing machine and go a little behind in his work!

Keep up the good work, Kay, the giggles are appreciated!
