Random Thoughts in Abject Despair

I'm not going to say much about what those blankety-blank Rethuglicans are doing to us and if anyone think they need to explain it to me, I hope he/she think again because it won't be published. I have already experienced cuts and groceries are almost luxury items and for sure, I can't afford the kind of food my doctor wants me to eat. Needless to say, I am worried. That Obama is putting our Social Security on the table is a betrayal of me and all the dedicated elders who gave their dedication and countless hours to his re-election. And I've been on the phone to my representatives to tell them what I think -- like they care and yeah, I'm angry with all of them irregardless of party.

* Please excuse my crabbiness -- it's the time of year when I have to deal with government a lot and it has that effect.

* AND I'm annoyed with Blogger -- my blogroll is all screwed up and their so-called 'help' is helpless (note to mention 'hopeless. And is Google taking over the world? I hope not, but it sure seems like it.

* Here's a blast from the past that reminds us that the more things change the more they stay the same. I was one year old when it took place which proves that the more things change, the more they stay the same. They didn't call him "Give'em hell Harry" for nothin' and I think Obama needs to take a page from him.

* On Sunday, my stepsister called to let me know that Barb, my stepmom, was/is in hospice. Needless to say, I was on the phone so fast it would make your head spin. I called the facility where they had taken her as well as her best friend, Karen. I talked to Barb, too and she's doing really well AND -- TA-DA!!!! -- it looks like she's going home in a few days which is weird because when one is in hospice, one doesn't usually go home. I'm pretty much committed to making the trek to Toledo in a few weeks to help as much as I can.

* Jeff stopped by last week with Shaughnessy who was delighted to see me. I, of course, felt guilty because I've been too depressed to call/visit anyone and promised to do better. The again, all the people who are guilting me are perfectly capable of calling me. If I'm not calling, it prolly means that I'm in isolation mode or busy -- either way, it's okay!

* It's almost time to renew Miss Ruby's license plates and I was appalled that they raised the cost -- again!!! $54.95 is a hell of a lot of money for a damned sticker. Heck! I deserve a discount for doing it online instead of clogging up the Deputy Registrar's office. Oh well.

* And here's Bill Maher at his finest with his panel last week. Enjoy!!!!

Hope y'all are having a great day!!!!!

Happy Blogging!!!!!

Kay

    1) I would make faces to cheer you up - if I thought you could see them.
    2) Pres Obama is the worst poker player, ever! Yes, he should take a page from Pres Truman's book!
    3) Now, Kay, just remember that you are paying for something other than the sticker. I'm not sure what services your fee goes into - or what my own go into (in KS they run into the hundreds of dollars) - but it "aint't" printing stickers!
Think of me as giving you a hug!

  2. It does seem like Obama is selling elders out, and even at that the Republicans can't be appeased.

  3. I don't have a problem criticizing President Obama (or anybody else) when they deserve it. BUT the only Social Security thing he has on the table is a slight reduction in increases in benefits tied to cost of living calculations. His proposal from the git go has had a provision to exempt those on the lower income levels. So your benefits wouldn't be affected no matter what. If chained CPI does happen, I'll take two hits--as a federal retiree and a SS recipient with a lower middle-class income. I'm not complaining, and I wish the folks who wouldn't even be affected would look into the facts of the matter a bit more.

  4. I'll try this again--for the third time. If Google isn't screwing up, it's Comcast internet, and if it isn't those two it is my two clumsy thumbs. I am sending you hugs. Hope your stepmom gets better. Hope your struggles with the bureaucrats yield some good. I don't think Obama can read Truman's book. He isn't really a liberal Democrat. Like too many other politicians he is really a business oriented politician. What is good for business is good, in their minds, for the country. We aren't businesses. But the resources we depend on businesses want to appropriate for themselves. Pisses me off too.

  6. I've been boycotting much of the news lately I'm so disgusted. Soon's I think of anything good to say, I'll come back and say it. I feel your digust--I wish we could have a Harry Truman back too.

  10. I share your anger that those who are in most need of our nation's assistance are being penalized by those in our government who should looking out for their interests. I'd like to believe the situation will be corrected in the not too distant future, but I'm not willing to hold my breath until then given the track record in D.C. Am sure you must feel betrayed, especially after your efforts in this past election. Keep hangin' in there!

Apparently your stepmom made more of a recovery than her medical situation might have suggested. Hope you're able to visit her as you plan.

I've had a lot more spam, too. Some items are just English words put together that don't even make sense suggesting a non-English source. Some is only partially grammatically and pragmatically correct. The rest are just blatant efforts to embed commercial or promotional website links through pathetic gross efforts of flattery or faux intelligence.

Here's sending you a big hug!
